CHEZ MIL is a love story about John and Mildred Hebert in Cajun Country.
John and Mildred Hebert lived across from each other on the banks of the Bayou Teche. and there romantic love story came to a halt at the beginning of World War II. They married on September 20, 1940, and John left his beautiful bride and his beloved Cajun Country; and on November 25, 1940, Company F, 156th Infantry, Breaux Bridge National Guard Unit was activated to active military service. The Acadians kept the "faith and hope "that there love ones would return home.

The apartment was minutes from downtown where the art festival was held. There are many dining options available. The hostess was fantastic and very knowledgeable about events happening in surrounding towns. Ms. Emmaline had left sandwiches and a delicious red velvet cake for us. The apartment was charming and the bed very comfortable.
Emmaline did everything to ensure we had the best stay in Breaux Bridge for Cycle Zydeco. Perfect location to enjoy all the sights and sounds (zydeco music) of the area. Very much enjoyed our stay and the city.

It was my pleasure to have Deborah and guests enjoy my Cajun Hospitality
with Chicken Salad Sandwiches and a Strawberry and Pecan cake. Thank you
for keeping "La Petite Voie de St. Therese" very clean. May you continue to
enjoy life and have a great summer. BIEN MERCI!
Emmeline is a delightful host. She had a butter peach cake and a box of chicken sandwiches and the table set in our house when we arrived. She was engaging, helpful with suggestions, and easily reachable as she lives at the property. We enjoyed our visit and would return anytime we are in the area again.

Just an amazing couple from Oregon spent four days at Chez Mil in Cajun Country. I was so impressed by their love for traveling and enjoying a wonderful life near the
ocean; catching salmon, muscles, and working in their
huge garden. It was interesting to hear about their boating experience from Washington State to New Zealand.
Thank you guys for your stay, and I hope you enjoyed the Smothered Chicken and Eggplant with a Sweet Potato Casserole. I served my favorite ice cream - Black Walnut Ice Cream.

There was a bit of a mix up with the room reservation. We ended up staying in another room on the property. Emmaline was the best host we have ever experienced. She cooked for us, chicken salad sandwich's and cake in the fridge when we arrived. We definitely recommend staying in her properties.
I have stayed in maybe 50 rentals through the years, and this was my favorite, mainly because of the kindness and generosity of Emmaline, our sweet hostess, 79, who reminds me of my grandmother, when I was little! She generously stocked our fridge before our arrival, and brought us home cooked food about every other day! Her amazing cooking is Cajun, of course, with a little KICK to it! Her door was always open if we needed something, and those "stop-ins " turned into visits, where my gf helped peel pecans with her for a pie at her kitchen table, and we all sang together! My OMA is long gone, and we wish we could adopt Emmaline! We will keep in touch, and of course stay with her, when we return to Cajun Country!
The new unit itself is comfortably appointed, with a super comfy bed and couch, where you sink in a bit, A/C, and ceiling fans throughout. It is truly a home away from home! Thank you, Emmaline, for being you! You have left an imprint on our hearts!

RON, like they say in ''CAJUN COUNTRY' you are something. What a review you gave your Cajun Grandmother, and I might add that you are an excellent
cook. I am really happy that you filled ''Chez Mil" with a lot of love and smoke. Ha! Those hamburgers were sizzling hot with your expertise. It was my pleasure to welcome you to my Cajun Country where you can enjoy fresh seafood and delicious meals by so many restaurants on every corner of Breaux Bridge. We are known for our "Joie de Vivre - Joy of Living."
I really enjoyed meeting both of you. God Bless you and your family.
Hopefully, I will see both of you again.
BIEN MERCI
Thank you very much for coming to Cajun Country and staying at
"Chez Mil." I so enjoyed meeting everyone; especially, Wilfred, since my
grandfather's name was Wilfred. Bien Merci for toasting with a glass of wine.
Hopefully, I will get to see you again.
Sincerely,
Emmaline
About the host

Mildred and John Hebert had seven children and ran a family business ( Gas station and Buck Plant) for 50 years in this unique Cajun City of Breaux Bridge. They had seven children by the name of Clifford, Emmaline, Hubert, Rochelle, Judy, Jill, and Genee. My name is Emmaline, the second to oldest child, and I was given chores inside our family home. As I got older, I was expected to work in the community service station which was connected to the house. There I cultivated a love for helping my parents and learned how to communicate with people.
Why they chose this property
For so many years my parents business served St. Martin Parish and Breaux Bridge area with a family business that provided quality service to farmers and locals for 50 years.
What makes this property unique
Chez Mil is located in the town of Breaux Bridge which is known as the Gateway to Southwest Louisiana Cajun Country.
