About the host

We're Robert & Tara. We live in Tampa with our three kids, and have always traveled as a family as much as possible. Our family couldn't be happier to be your hosts on your own vacation. Travel, and comfort, has always been a priority to our family. We're here to make your stay the best possible and hope you join us now, and in the future.

Why they chose this property

We absolutely love Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountain area. I traveled to this area as a child with my aunt and cousin, and I remember being in downtown Gatlinburg and looking up at the houses on the mountain totally in awe. Being from Florida, and always living on land completely flat as far as the eye could see, the memory of being in the mountains of Tennessee on that trip never left me. I ventured to Gatlinburg several more times growing up, and after Tara and I married, we traveled here on a couple's trip, always staying downtown. After bringing our kids up during a longer than planned Christmas Break in 2020/2021 because of an extra week at home, we decided we wanted to have a permanent place for ourselves to enjoy. In the same year, we bought two homes near each other, one for us to use as a family home when in the area (a 4 bedroom), and one to use for friends (a 2 bedroom).

What makes this property unique

This house is a special place for us. Tara specifically fell in love with the "round house," because it reminded her of her grandmother's home growing up. Her grandmother lived in a house that was round, and was unique in its floor plan. We love that there are windows all around to keep the house bright and open. The location is also unique and wasn't something we even expected when we decided to buy the home: it's on the very top road on this part of the mountain with no cut through traffic. There truly might only be 1-2 cars that drive by per day depending on the time of year, with no more than usually a hand full, if that. It's so close to downtown, but truly secluded, even though there are neighbors around. We also love that we see a ton of bears at the house. There is a large preserve behind the house, so they have pretty free roam of this area. One day we counted 14 in one evening. We also absolutely love the view. Many homes, even though they are on the mountain, have no view of the surrounding mountains. This house definitely does, and I'm thankful the view is even better in real life than photos can convey. It's usually a pleasant surprise to guests that the mountains are so beautiful from the house, and look better in person than the pictures project.
