About this property

Le Gîte du Puit - CHAPAIZE

Christine and Jean-Michel (former farmer, breeder of Charolais cows and sheep) welcome you to a charming, authentic country farmhouse built in the 18th century, carefully restored according to the rules of the art, nestled in the quiet on the edge of a lane in a picturesque little rural hamlet steeped in history (once linked to the old fortified castle of Uxelles), both residential and agricultural, located on the edge of the charming typical village of Chapaize, home to 2 listed Romanesque churches from the 11th century (including one of the oldest "lantern towers" in Burgundy) as well as the very renowned site of the "Ladies of Lancharre" (remains of a Priory founded in the 11th century, dedicated to young girls from the local nobility). A very peaceful landscaped setting, nestled in the heart of the unspoiled Tournugeois countryside (protected as a Natura 2000 and ZNIEFF site for its rich flora and fauna), a stone's throw from vineyards, in the hollow of a bucolic plateau of fields and hedged meadows, at the edge of a vast national forest where a tranquil fishing pond (Étang des Vernes) is hidden. A magnificent, rolling haven of unspoiled nature and greenery (perfect for exploring on invigorating walks or mountain bike rides) offering sublime panoramas and viewpoints. The cottage is very comfortable. It has a warm, "country chic" feel, enhanced by the truly unique character of an old rural building (stone walls and lintels, fireplace mantel, beams, ceilings, and beautiful original timber frame). A soft, cozy, and snug atmosphere that is truly enveloping. Full of charm and character. A large, sunny balcony-terrace offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside (with Mont Saint-Romain in the background) and overlooks a spacious covered terrace (with an outdoor lounge area). A pleasant, slightly enclosed garden, nestled at the edge of a small pasture that is home to the owners' Empshire sheep (a breed originating from England) during the season, features a unique, intimate sheltered terrace, built on the site of a former lean-to. Guests have access to the owners' pétanque court, which is adjacent to the cottage. Composition: Detached house (adjoining a large barn) next to the owners' house (completely independent and private). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Electric heating and a wood pellet stove. Laundry room on the ground floor (washing machine and dryer). Access to the cottage is via an external staircase leading to one level. First floor: living room/kitchen/lounge, shower room (shower/WC). Second floor: 2 bedrooms (each with a double bed 140x190cm), separate WC. Balcony/terrace + covered terrace + enclosed garden (150m² / slightly set back 15m from the cottage) with covered terrace + garage (1 space) + bicycle storage + private parking. Access to the owners' pétanque court (next to the cottage). Mini-market 3 km away. Supermarket 12 km away. Amenities 16 km away. A charming, authentic 18th-century country farmhouse - adorned with a pleasant 150m² enclosed garden and several terraces - carefully restored to its former glory as a peaceful holiday retreat, nestled in the quiet of a picturesque little rural hamlet, a stone's throw from the vineyards, on the edge of pastures, at the edge of a beautiful state forest, 12 km from the charming medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National, a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté" (numerous amenities including a supermarket), 16 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny (with the very rare and prestigious "European Heritage" label) and 18 km from Tournus, a world-renowned abbey site located on the banks of the Saône (river marina / access to the A6 motorway). In the heart of the gentle, unspoiled Tournugeoise countryside (protected in the Natura 2000 & ZNIEFF zone for its very rich ecosystems), on the edge of the small, typical village steeped in history and perfectly preserved by Chapaize (home to the renowned site of the "Dames de Lancharre" located 5.5 km away), nestled between the Grosne & Saône rivers at the foot of the wooded foothills of the South Burgundy massif (a superb wild area to explore on foot or by mountain bike), in the hollow of a sublime hilly setting of total nature and greenery combining vineyards, beautiful forests and verdant hedged meadows. An exceptionally privileged location at the crossroads of the Mâconnais and Côte Chalonnaise vineyards, on the "Burgundy Wine Route" (which extends into the "Great Wines Route"), the Romanesque Churches circuit, the "Cycloroute71" (Saône-et-Loire cycling tour), several natural footpaths, and a marked "greenway" (a vast network of similar hiking trails to discover in the area), 1.5 km from the GR76 long-distance hiking trail, connected to the famous "Cluny Way" GR (ViaCluny) and the legendary "Monks' Way" (once linking the abbeys of Cîteaux and Cluny), 3 km from the "Great Loop of Southern Burgundy" Green Way, and 3 km from the renowned GTM mountain bike trail, a "FFC Mountain Bike" certified route (Grand Tour of the Southern Burgundy Massif, connected to a vast network of similar mountain bike trails crisscrossing the massif). At the crossroads of the Tournugeois-Clunisois (designated a "Land of Art and History"), the Mâconnais, the Chalonnais & the Bresse Bourguignonne, rich in magnificent landscapes and a truly unique historical heritage (particularly medieval & Romanesque). 7.5 km from Taizé (and its famous religious community), 10 km from the medieval village of Brancion, 13 km from the Blanot caves, 18 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 26 km from the rare Truchère Nature Reserve (remarkable protected ecosystem), 31 km from the medieval town of Mont-Saint-Vincent (one of the most beautiful sites in Burgundy with a literally unique 360° panoramic "belvedere"), 35 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (labeled "City of Art and History"), 37 km from the sumptuous landscape jewel of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson labeled "Grand Site de France", 40 km from Mâcon (Mâcon Loché TGV station 38 km away), 42 km from Charolles and 46 km from Louhans (capital of the Bresse Bourguignonne).
