## A Little History Port d’Envaux was once a strategic trading port on the Charente River, where barges, sloops, and schooners docked, transporting "Pierre de Crazannes," the famous pottery from La Chapelle des Pots, firewood and wood for wheelwrighting, wine, cognac, and salt. Today, Port d’Envaux boasts a river port geared towards tourism, welcoming numerous visitors year-round.
The new-generation electro-solar-powered boat, "Bernard Palissy III," calls at Port d’Envaux and offers cruises on the Charente River from April to October, departing from Saintes.
Along the banks of the Charente River, you'll also find the towpath lined with beautiful houses, a recreation area (picnic tables, parking for cars, 5 paid pitches for campervans from June 1st to September 30th – €5 per night), as well as hiking trails, such as the Stone Trails which connect Crazannes and Port d’Envaux via the Standing Stones Galaxy and Les Lapidiales. Fishermen and walkers alike appreciate the unspoiled natural environment of the Charente. A fishing platform accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM) is located near the port, with access from the Pré Valade parking area.
## Facilities Swimming: In summer, a designated and supervised beach is available (please check the information on site).
The Port: During the tourist season, the port is managed by the company "Les Canotiers" under an agreement.
La Cabane des Canotiers: a casual outdoor café and refreshment stand offering fresh fruit cocktails, homemade granitas, artisanal ice cream, salads, sandwiches, and drinks.
