About this property

Compass Pointe Condominium - Steps to downtown, close to Lake Michigan

An unforgettable stay awaits you at Compass Pointe on Harbor, located in the heart of downtown Grand Haven! A beautiful water view from your balcony will make your stay magical! You'll enjoy watching boats navigate up and down the channel, stunning sunsets, and Grand Haven's Famous Musical Fountain from the privacy of your own balcony or walk across the street and watch it channel-side. A few feet from your front door you can experience locally owned shops, restaurants, bars, farmers market, Chinook Pier, municipal marina, boardwalk, museums, and more. All so close to the action, yet just far enough away.

Lake Michigan is about a mile away, walk or drive and check out Grand Haven’s Beach which was voted one of the best beaches in the USA by Coastal Living magazine and US News and World Reports!

In addition to the great location, the condo provides room for all! Our spacious 3-floor (all stairs, no elevator) condo has plenty of room to spread out. You will have private use of all 3 floors; 1 designated outdoor parking space, 2 guest-parking spaces on the premises, and the use of a secure coded garage for storage of any bikes or equipment you might bring for your stay. The designated parking space is next to the flight of stairs to the 2nd floor’s secured main entrance where you will enter with your own private code, no need to go to any specially designated place or lock boxes. The Space: The garage level opens into a finished rec room/basement area. Here you will find board games, beach gear; towels, chairs, a cooler & beach cart, TV/gaming, a highchair, stroller, and baby gates, and a queen sofa sleeper. The stairs take you to the 2nd floor and main entrance; the 2 bedrooms, full bath, and laundry are located here - complete with plenty of comfy bedding, pillows, and towels for all. Stairs on this floor lead you up to the beautiful 3rd floor for your balcony views off the living room. The well-supplied kitchen & 1/2 bath are also on this level for you to enjoy! You’ll find many little extras throughout the condo for your use. We hope you thoroughly enjoy your stay!
Our goal is to meet and exceed your expectations, we are so excited to have you stay and enjoy the majesty of West MI and Lake Michigan ☀️
A couple of housekeeping notes:
We do not have a linen service like a hotel, we ask that you keep the towel usage down to a minimum. Please feel free to freshen up your towels and run them through the washer during your stay, also if you use the beach towels please wash/dry them prior to your departure. The 4-hour turnaround does not allow enough time for 10 loads of laundry.
Although this is your own private condo during your stay, it is located within a condominium community. We ask that you respect the privacy of the year-round residents that live here who share our walls and walkways. Parking in only designated areas, no dogs, (HOA rule, not ours) no parties, no smoking anywhere on or around the property, quiet zone after 9:00 pm is appreciated by all.

Anniversary Weekend in Grand Haven
We came to Grand Haven to celebrate our anniversary weekend. Bob and Sue communicated in a very timely manner and provided a nice list of places to visit while we were there. By far the cleanest and most furnished Vrbo we have stayed in, they have everything you can think of to make it feel like you're at home. The location couldn't get better as you are right next to all the nice shops and restaurants. We would recommend staying here time and time again. Thanks for a wonderful place to stay.

Cozy, Rainy, Family Weekend
Bob and Sue’s place was PERFECT for our Homecoming weekend with two of our college kids. Loved the layout - space for everyone! And the view? Even on a very rainy weekend, the view of the marina from the main living area cannot be beat. The skies cooperated enough one evening to provide a gorgeous sunset. Sue and Bob were wonderful to work with! Had an issue with TV connecting to the internet, and they got right on it and had it fixed by kickoff time (Couldn’t miss ND vs USC football!). Family snuggled up on that big, comfy sectional on a stormy evening is my kind of night! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Great stay in Grand Haven
Located very closely to the Grand Haven social district we were able to walk to restaurants and breweries in a matter of minutes. The space is great with 3 functional levels, and very comfortable beds. We were also very thankful to see all the baby supplies (high chair, baby gates, etc) as we had our 15mo with us. Will definitely look to stay here again on our next trip to GH.

Bob and I are empty nesters and love to travel as often as we can. Bob retired this past December (he had been at the same job for 39 years, he said he lived vicariously through me haha). I have basically reinvented myself about 5 times over; restaurant manager, theme park manager, charter captain (excursions only, I didn't offer fishing), long-term rental owner, currently a Realtor and now we are short-term rental owners. We are SO..... excited.
It took us 3 years to find the right property to rent and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

I grew up in Holland, and Bob grew up in CT, however, he has now lived in Michigan longer than CT.

We have one daughter and now a wonderful son-in-law. We lucked out with a great guy, and squeaked in a wedding 2 weeks before the Covid shut down to "flatten the curve". Our son-in-law is German so the wedding was a destination with 110 people from all over the US and the World. Upon our departure, the only thing we had heard was there was "a flu" going around... Who knew what we were in for? So glad it's in our past.

Our only sadness in this endeavor is the condo association doesn't allow dogs. :-(
We had a beautiful, happy, loving, Goldendoodle named Bella, she crossed the rainbow bridge on March 1st. We miss her so much. She loved to be petted, so much so that all our friends had nicknamed her "Eileen - I lean" Once you started petting her she is against your leg and your friend for the rest of the day.
We so we understand how difficult it is to leave your fur baby behind, but it is out of our control.

Why they chose this property

As I mentioned above, we looked long and hard for a rental property, we had a large list of "must-have" amenities/activities.
We found this condo and instantly fell in love.
It's in a great location with views of the channel, marina, musical fountain, sunsets and a good spot to people watch. It's within walking distance of downtown Grand Haven & Lake Michigan. You can schedule a fishing, sailing, or sightseeing charter, with a local charter captain, walk the docks, eat at some really good restaurants, and enjoy the new social district and have a cocktail or microbrew on the main street. There are bike paths, hiking trails, museums, festivals, Imagination Station Playground, Splash Pad, and best of all the BEACH. Lake Michigan is MAGICAL, beautiful beaches, freshwater - No Sharks, and goes farther than the eye can see, you will swear you are at the ocean, but even better - No Salt!!!

** Beach Tip** You might want to put a car at the beach early in the morning to get a parking spot so you can take it home after a LONG day of fun in the sand and sun, you can also load it with the beach chairs, cooler, toys, towels, etc... much less to haul if you want to walk over a bit later in the day.
On a sunny day, there will not be any parking after about 10:30 am.
