About this property
Nice family-friendly apartment with sea views
The town of Primosten is beautifully situated on an islet between Sibenik and Trogir and is not least because of the harmonious connection of its old town with the modern tourist center a popular travel destination on the Croatian Adriatic. If you approach Primosten from the coastal road, the place presents itself from its most picturesque side like a postcard idyll.
Already in the 16th Century, the people fleeing the inland from the attacking Turks really appreciated the island location of Primosten. They surrounded the place with a protective fortress, of which only a few remains of the wall are still present today. After the Turkish threat was averted, Primosten was first connected to the mainland by a bridge and later by a dam. Today only the historic old town of Primosten is on the island, while the modern city with the tourist centers has settled on the mainland due to space constraints. The towering church of Sveti Juraj from the 15th Century was the hallmark of the place. From here you can let your gaze wander unobstructed over the slate roofs of the town, the color of which forms an impressive contrast to the deep blue of the sea. The sarcophagus of Bishop Arneric and the local cemetery next to the church are worth seeing. At the city gate there is a bakery and a small supermarket, so to speak, the commercial center of the historic town, while you can linger comfortably along the waterfront in the numerous restaurants and cafés. A stroll through Primosten leads through picturesque alleys past beautiful, if rather simply built, town houses. Especially in the evening, the coastal town with its typical wine bars is very atmospheric and sociable. Gourmets will also get their money's worth in the local bars, as Primosten is known to connoisseurs as a small gourmet paradise.
