Replica firehouse with large game room, close to hiking and skiing
Decorated with decades of history and memorabilia, the Firehouse was built in 2004 by firefighter enthusiast John Cullen. We created spaces to offer a unique vacation experience. With 5 BRs and a bunkroom this home sleeps 16. Perfect for multi-gen families and groups of friends to get away together. The garage was converted into an enormous 1600 sf’ game room to entertain through the seasons.
In our opinion this house is one of the most unique properties you will find in the area. The multiple open spaces offer room to spread out yet plenty of cozy seating to spend quality time together. Sitting in front of the gas fireplace is a restful spot on cold winter nights or after a fun day of skiing. During the warmer seasons spend time on the back patio with a grill and a back yard with outdoor games and a fire pit. The Firehouse’s amazing game room, converting the oversized garage area to include large dinning room with a wet bar, fully equipped with full fridge, ice maker and sink for easy clean up. Games include a pool table, table top shuffleboard, ping pong, skee-ball and more. Let the chef of the group prepare a nice home cooked meal with a fully functioning kitchen with all the pots, pans and utensils provided for you. Kitchen is on the first floor along with a bedroom with a queen bed. The upstairs space has six twin beds and a full bath in the loft. Next is a large common space including a sitting area with lots of board games, and a living area with a large smart TV. Two additional bedrooms are through the loft with a queen bed in each. Two more bedrooms with queen beds located in the newly finished Basement . Finally, hike through the back of the property to the Mad River (adventures types only please).

This was an awesome stay! The house was cozy, well appointed, and beyond unique. It was super fun! The host was very helpful and communicative as well. We stayed here for a big group retreat and there was plenty of space for everyone, a cozy fireplace to beat the cold, and games galore. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
Pictures don’t do this home justice! Check-in was easy and the home owner was very responsive to our inquiries. The home and beds were comfortable/clean and the artwork was fascinating!
Our kids had a ton of fun in the garage area playing games. The open room with 6 twin beds was perfect for our group of kids as well. House is large with multiple “family rooms” to get away if needed.
Checkin went smooth. Wifi info was easy to find and we needed it. Verizon service was very little. We had plenty of kitchen items to cook dinner every night. The grill worked well too. We had campfires every night and the unit had so many games to play. Everyone had a good time.
My entire group of 14 people love the Replica Firehouse and all the memorabilia throughout the house. We enjoyed the layout and all the space it provided. We are deinitely planning on returning next year. Ken King
This place was like nowhere I've ever stayed - one-of-a-kind game room and packed with loads of history throughout. Very convenient to Waterville Valley and a nice peaceful spot in the woods. 100% enjoyed.
Our collegiate alpine ski team stayed for two nights while we were in town for competitions and had an awesome time. Plenty of room and close to the mountain. Looking at all the memorabilia was really cool and of course, the game room was a HUGE hit!
Awesome, grear host, nice location and great playroom
The host was easy to talk and communicate, place was nice and cosy, we were 15 people and could easily accommodate. The game room is amazing, a lot to entertain. I would recommend everyone try this out.
Perfect place for our family !! There was so room for sleeping ! The games were so much fun for all ages !!! The owner was very attentive and answered my questions quickly . He even made a special trip to meet me when my watch was left behind !
Whoever designed this house definitely went all out in making it look like a fire house. The house itself is laid out a little weird but still very usable. My only complaint would be that there isnt enough showers for the number of guests that can stay but we knew this going into it and made it work. The game room and firemans pole made this house one of the best we have every stayed in. A hot tub would help to make this place even better then 5 stars.
We had an amazing time at this Firehouse themed VRBO. The memorabilia was awesome such an amazing collection! The house is huge! So much more space than anticipated. The huge 16 person table in the game room was perfect so we could all eat our meals together. The fire pole from the second floor was a huge hit with the kids and adults, we had an amazing time with family game tournaments with the pool table, ping pong, skeeball, basketball, shuffle board and air hockey. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable and plentiful! The 3rd bathroom in the basement was a welcome surprise. We will definitely come back.
2 towels for 2 people and 3 nights, no wash clothes, no bath mats. Lights and fan in the bedroom would come on and off at all hours of the night. Lights in living area flickered nonstop if on. No cover on the duvet, the sheets didn’t breathe and made for a miserable sleep. Microwave door didn’t open. AND 1 ply TP!! It was cute but not functional. 3 miserable nights.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Disappointing weekend
Pros:
-Large space that can fit three families
-Comfortable beds and sheets
-Fun games
Cons:
-Way too hot for summer visits. No AC and not nearly enough fans to cool the home. Fans didn't work in game room.
-Dirty...very dirty. The floors were cleaned and the beds all had clean sheets, but beyond that, not much cleaning was done at all. We found mold in two coffee makers, trash left in cans with no bags in them, dirty glasses in the cupboard, soap scum in both showers, lots of dust, a mystery puddle of liquid under a bed, toys all over the place. The cleaning fee seems absurd based on this.
-Personal items/clutter EVERYWHERE. The game room is literally piled high with random things like a new toilet seat, bags of salt, a copy machine, someone's swimming trunks, an engraved briefcase, etc. Bathrooms are packed with personal items, no room to put our things in showers or on sinks.
-In the game room our children found fire axes in a huge pile of real fire uniforms. We were grateful none of our children were too young or too crazy to make that a dangerous situation.
-Broken grill that we had to reassemble and scrub clean to use
-Wires hanging out of walls
The owner responded to messages fairly quickly but asked us to do the work- clean the coffee pot, fix the grill, etc. We spent as little time inside the house as we possibly could because it was quite uncomfortable for everyone.

There are window A/Cs in all rooms. It was my fault I did not have house checked after cleaners left. That no longer happens.
About the host
Hosted by Charles Pike
I am a former paramedic from Massachusetts. I enjoy skiing and hiking. It is my opinion there are few places more prefect than the white mountains. Best part about hosting is being able to offer large groups an affordably option to all stay together.
Why they chose this property
My home is located in a small quiet neighborhood. Please be respectful of the neighbors. Please drive cautiously as people often walk around the neighborhood
What makes this property unique
The previous owner built the house to be a fully functioning firehouse. There is a dispatch center, fire pole and decades of memorabilia. I turned the large garage into a game room.
