The DUPLEX, built in 2008, has all the comforts of home. This six bedroom home has two kitchens and two living rooms available to rent to any size of group. The floor plan is designed to accommodate families with children to groups of couples looking for snowmobile trails.
The DUPLEX has access to two lakes. Big Sand Lake is a spring fed, sand bottom lake with 600 feet of sandy beach fronting Pine Cone Lodge. It is the best lake for swimming, boating, and fishing for walleye or northern pike. The ideal sand beach with a gradual drop off is perfect for kids. Thomas Lake or Loon Lake, as the locals cal it, is shallower and has more cover for fish, ideal for bass and pan fish. Great scenery!! Take out the canoe or kayaks! There is a total of 5-6 acres of land for 2000 feet of lakeshore.
Daily visitors are $20/day that you pay during stay. VRBO Dog fee is for only 1 dog. If you have more than 1 dog, extra pet fee is paid directly to Pine Cone Lodge. Dogs need to be kenneled if they are left alone in the home.
This property is NOT available in the summer. We hope you try out this property at Pine Cone Lodge during the fall, winter or spring.
Pine Cone is a perfect winter getaway. Access to ice fishing on two lakes, the snowmobile trail of Heartland Trail is just 2 miles away.

This was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was impeccable, the location was beautiful, and also convenient to get to.
Our host Bonnie was amazing.
I would recommend Pine Cone resort for anyone, including families, couples and groups.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication right from the start when we arrived Friday evening. We understood that up to three dogs were allowed and did bring three dogs, but we were unaware we needed to notify the host ahead of time. Upon arrival, we were informed there would be a 30 per day, per dog fee, which led us to drive our dogs 30 minutes away to stay at my grandparents’ property after already arriving. After reviewing the listing details again, the contract appeared to state there was a one-time dog fee, so there seemed to be some misunderstanding. The interaction felt overwhelming immediately upon arrival, especially with the host being present in the attached garage. Throughout the weekend, we also felt we lacked privacy, as the host was around the property frequently, which made the stay feel somewhat micromanaged rather than relaxing. We were in town for my grandfather’s memorial and had hoped for a peaceful weekend, but often felt like we were intruding. The cabin itself was clean and the scenery was beautiful. However, there are areas that could be improved. While we understand it is a family-owned cabin, the large amount of personal family photos throughout the space made it feel more like staying in someone’s private home than a cozy lodge-style rental, especially for the price point.
This is a great place for a girls weekend or, family get together. Plenty of room for kids to move around in. Lots of amenities. The owner was very nice and easy to communicate with. She really wanted us to be happy.
This is a spacious yet cozy place that my 3 adult children were able to stay in so they could be close to family in northern MN over the holidays. Our host was extremely accommodating to our situation. They even set up a Christmas Tree for us to enjoy.
12 of us (6 couples) stayed in the duplex Sycamore/Cherry and we all had a wonderful time! Cabins were very nice. Resort is beautiful. And working with Bonnie was easy! We will definitely be back some day!
We stayed in the duplex (Cherry and Sycamore) and it was ideal for our family get together. These cabins were stocked with everything you need. We had a great time and would highly recommend this resort!

We loved it!
The Sycamore Cherry Duplex at Pine Cone Lodge worked well for our group. The 6 bedrooms, and plenty of room for the 12 of us. We had a great time.

AWESOME!!
Working anywhere from 5 - 7 days a week, raising 2 active sons, and taking care of a household which includes 2 cats, vacations are to be relaxing. This place offers EVERYTHING for the ideal get away. All the comforts of home (and even some I don't have at home) in a peaceful, scenic setting. Highly recommend to anyone (even those who don't like 'camping')!!!! Plus the price was unbeatable!!!
About the host
Hosted by Bonnie Brand
The Brand family has owned Pine Cone Lodge and Vacation Rentals since 1960 with the third generation starting in 1995. We have changed the resort to be more of a vacation home getaway for our guests. We have removed the old cabins and built homes that are open year round. New homes with the beautiful scenery and lakeshore make a wonderful vacation spot. The DUPLEX is our favorite because of the view.
Why they chose this property
Our grandfather bought this property in 1961. It has been a treasure of history to the third generation owners and the extended family. It has been a place to make memories. We hope that it builds memories for other families like yours
