About this property
Holidays with friends and family - relaxed and fun days in the Uckermark.
Our house is facing south, on a 5000 sqm plot with an old orchard and is surrounded by beautiful linden trees.
The house itself offers 6 bedrooms for max. 11 guests, two bathrooms, a wonderful, spacious and fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful living room with fireplace and a very large, partly covered terrace.
We kept the interior very pure and no frills.
The house is flooded with light all day -
and has a concentrated and peaceful atmosphere.
Depending on your needs, the garden tables can be set up under the old cherry trees or on the terrace. Barbecue and a hammock are available for use.
For your own needs, you are welcome to harvest what is currently ripe - cherries, pears, mirabelle plums,
Plums, hazelnuts, quinces and apples.
And from the snack garden also blueberries, currants, raspberries, gooseberries and rhubarb and tomatoes, as well as various herbs.
Less than a 10-minute walk away is a small, clean lake with a swimming area. Ten minutes by bike through the Feldmark you will find another beautiful lake for swimming.
Furnishing:
We have a number of games in the house (including Viking chess, badminton, chess, mill, man-annoy-you-not, UN, ...), as well as sand toys for little people.
There are bike / hiking maps of the area, as well as a collection of recommendations for excursions, events and sights.
Washing machine and drying rack can be used.
A high chair and a baby bed are available.
WiFi (50,000 kBit / s) and a streaming box may be used free of charge.
In the kitchen there is a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, a 4-burner gas stove and an electric oven, a good selection of spices and some stimulating cookbooks.
Cutlery and crockery for 12 people, sufficient bowls, pans, pots, roasters, steamers, mixers, blender, toaster, electric coffee grinder, etc.
The work surface is large and invites you to cook together.
At the front, the long bench is a popular place for children, breaks and kitchen conversations.
The large table offers space for up to 12 people.
Four of the bedrooms are each equipped with 2 beds, one bedroom has a double bed and one bedroom is a small single room.
shop
Once across the street there is a small village shop for the basics. There are also fresh rolls at the weekend, and at noon also hearty sausages or meatballs with homemade potato salad or fries.
The house stops twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays in the morning)
the baker Schmidt from Greiffenberg with delicious baked goods, and on Thursday a small moving shop with an amazing selection.
The butcher stops at the manor once a week - 3 minutes on foot.
On the Kerkow manor, operated by Sarah Wiener, there is the possibility to shop daily in the organic farm shop. Among other things, excellent bread from the stone oven and homemade meat products. (approx. 15 km).
In Gramzow (5 km) there is an EDEKA shop and 2 bakeries, as well as a savings bank, the Volksbank and a pharmacy and a doctor's office.
In Prenzlau (20 km) there are a. a large market purchase with a comprehensive organic range.
History of the house
Our house was part of an ambitious construction project in the newly founded GDR.
It was built in 1953 as a kindergarten.
A state-of-the-art LPG plant was built in Polßen at the time. a. from the
KiTa (with 2 apartments, infirmary and crib), post office, well-equipped
Residential buildings for LPG employees, large workshops, grocery stores
(Konsum) and a house with a dance hall, pub and wine bar.
This made Polßen a popular place to live and also attractive to the people of the surrounding places.
After the GDR collapsed in 1989, the LPG was also closed. The surrounding houses were privatized and lovingly over the years by
renovated their current owners.
The former day care center was not used and has been empty since 1993.
At the end of 2015 we bought the dilapidated building and began to repair it carefully and with a lot of our own work. It was not a matter of a smooth renovation, but of keeping traces of its history in the house.
The part that we offer as a holiday home is ready.
The other part will now be gradually restored and in the future as a studio
be used.
place
Around 200 people live in the village of Polßen. Polßen is located in the heart of the Uckermark, right next to the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve.
The Uckermark is one of the most sparsely populated and most beautiful landscapes in Germany and is characterized by an unusually rich and diverse flora and fauna.
Surroundings
Directly from the house it goes over the village road past the estate and past the church (from the 13th century) on foot or by bike into the Feldmark - with breathtaking, beautiful views of the hilly landscape.
The Unter- and Oberuckersee can be easily reached by bike through the fields via Warnitz or by car.
Day trips to the Oderbruch can be made by bike - the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the beech forests near Grumsin / Angermünde, are also a worthwhile trip.
