"Larger than Life" was the title of the South African editions of House and Leisure on the design of the Park-Side Villa at 13 Hof Street. Sir John Parker was a well known architect and mayor of Cape Town. The spacious and truly beautiful Victorian villa on the "Park Side" is one of the very few well-preserved buildings with the signature of John Parker. The historic villa with a huge roof terrace is located on the border of Gardens / Oranjezicht and is surrounded by a huge garden that hardly allows any views from the outside. The 3 giant palm trees in the garden are among the tallest palm trees in the city and can be easily seen from almost any location in Cape Town. Opposite and adjacent to the villa is the De Waal Park - the largest and most beautiful park in the city. The villa itself is breathtakingly beautiful. The numerous Victorian features make a tour in and around the house a real experience. The room height is just over 5 meters and many of the architectural features are well preserved. The Park Side Villa is not a usual holiday home and it is by no means "everyone's" taste. Its interior houses one of the most fascinating private art collections in the country, which has already been extensively covered in a number of specialist and residential magazines. In an almost surreal context, the paintings and sculptures in and around the house have merged into a total work of art. Park Side is a separate world you enter and immerse yourself in - something that will be remembered throughout your life. Many of the rooms are provided with textiles on the walls, stretched and sewn on foam surfaces and so creates a sense of living as you know it from fine castles and castles of ancient times. The pictures I have uploaded here should by no means show everything in advance. On the contrary, they serve to arouse your curiosity and I deliberately do not show you every room and every picture. But - you certainly will not be disappointed. Park Side sleeps 4 people. Park Side is a holiday home of a different or very special kind. It is an art exhibition, gallery and a place of music. It's the interior, the art and the music that make Park Side an unforgettable experience. The room climate of the house is always cool which makes the stay in the summer very pleasant and bearable. Unlike the modern houses that quickly overheat and rely on air conditioning, the thick walls of the house allow the often oppressive heat outside. All rooms of the villa are very generous and give the occupants of the house enough space. The garden has plenty of seating (outside or under the covered Victorian gallery). A fountain in the garden provides for a pleasantly fresh relaxation and from the sunny roof terrace has a fabulous view of Table Mountain and can relax on one of the sun loungers, the sun, read or sleep. In front of the house can park up to 3 cars. Park Side Villa is ideally located in the heart of Cape Town. Every attraction, every interesting restaurant or even the vibrant nightlife of Cape Town can be easily reached from here. In the nearby De Waal Park there are many recreational activities for young and old - picnic places and the Sunday concerts in the summer months are almost legendary.
