Everything was outstanding!! from the cozy feels to fast response from Jennifer to feeling we would come back immediately. All of the ammenities were very well thought of. My family had a great time hanging out together & can’t wait to visit again.
It was a very cute little house. Very nicely decorated And centrally located to all our attractions And the garage worked out lovely since we were on the motorcycles
This is an absolutely beautiful home! The property manager was regularly in contact before our stay and set it up so that we were able to connect with them during our stay if needed. We will absolutely stay here again! Thank you so much for the lovely stay!
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at this home in early July. The home is well kept and clean. It was fully stocked and there was a coffee bar and snacks there to greet us. Jennifer responded promptly to all my questions and concerns. The home is centrally located as we visited both The Badlands and Mt. Rushmore. If we are ever in the area again, this would be the place I would stay.
So happy to have found this great place to stay while visiting Ellsworth Air Force Base Air Show! It was quiet and had everything we needed to decompress after long days at the Air Show. We particularly appreciated the comfy beds! Everything felt clean and fresh!
This property is newly constructed home located in new subdivision.
All new furniture . Beds and pillows were comfortable..
Very nice clean property.
This property was centrally located to all the Badlands attractions.
The house was beautiful. Super clean, well supplied, great kitchen supplies, comfortable beds and super soft couches. The owner was super communicative.
If I have to be picky, a little more info on the house layout may have helped us since we traveled with two under 2. You walk into a landing and go up to the living area & two king rooms and down to the other two bedrooms and movie room. Not a complaint, just info for planning for family travel.
Would not change a thing. Helped make a family trip to SD extra awesome!

Just OK
The neighborhood, though largely newly-built, is not taken care of at all. There are weeds absolutely everywhere-including the backyard of this home. We couldn’t play any lawn games with the family because of the prickly weeds. The patio area was nice to sit in. The garbage bins were in the garage, one filled almost to the top with trash. It consequently attracted tons of gnats & flies which then flew in the house. They went everywhere, & would wake us up at night. We tried buying several fly and fruit fly catchers to get rid of them because they’d also land in our food. Didn’t work unfortunately. We also could not get the heat to turn on, no matter what we tried. There were no directions, and it was 63 degrees in the house. I tried messaging and calling the manager or owner several times, no reply. I contacted Vrbo, and they also tried to contact them. It was hours later when we finally were contacted, due to an apparent time difference. By then we had already reserved hotel rooms because we didn’t want another night of not being able to sleep due to the cold. The property manager implied that it was our fault, because “most people like it cooler”, and that I just didn’t know how to work the thermostat. Meanwhile, the video they sent me showed exactly what I had tried to do, to no avail. Vrbo didn’t end up helping because the flies weren’t enough of a health concern for them. Ultimately -the rules are stated in such a way that the owner of the property is protected.

You contacted us to let us know the house was 67 degrees via text (not 63) and said the thermostat must be locked because you "couldn't figure out how to change it over" to heat. We send you a text explaining it was not locked and to "simply push the thermostat in the center and turn it to heat" and promptly sent a video on how to work it. You said you tried everything and it didn't work, and that you had left already. Google thermostats are fairly common and there are many youtube videos if needed. The reason it was set to cool is it was 94 degrees the day of your arrival and 100 degrees the next day. The cleaner was there the very morning you left and sent us screenshots of the thermostat in which it was already 76 degrees in the home. The thermostat was working properly upon her arrival. You were also there for 3 full days with no complaints at all. Even after receiving an email on Sept. 29th stating "Please let me know if there is anything you need or if we can assist you in any way!" We received no response from you or no complaints. Leaving us to assume you were quite comfortable in the home. It wasn't until the last day of your stay that "so many issues suddenly appeared". If you would've mentioned the bins, we would've had someone come by and empty them. There were zero bugs or gnats upon our cleaners arrival. There are no thistles in the front yard, there were some thistles on the right side of the back yard which were treated by a lawn care company that maintains the yards. But as stated, the reason we send an email the first morning of your stay is to make sure you are comfortable with the home and we don't need to address any issues. For future stays you should let the property managers know the minute any issues come up, and not wait until the last day of your stay to state several complaints and leave quickly before they can be addressed.
This house is beautiful! Very nicely decorated, and clean. The owner is extremely nice, and gets back to you quickly. We enjoyed seeing Mount Rushmore, Fort Hays Chuckwagon dinner and show, and the badlands, along with many other beautiful places.
Our growing family planned on renting 3 hotel rooms in Deadwood but the price was outrageous! My daughter found Wanderlust for cheaper plus we were under the same roof where the grandchildren could play together and watch tv on the big screen in the movie room. We made our own breakfast and lounged around the firepit. Hopefully next year we can do the same!
Our group of five had a very nice stay here. We used it as a home base to explore Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil’s Tower, Custer State Park and the area.
The neighborhood is under construction but was quiet despite this. One small issue we discovered during our summer stay was the AC unit makes the downstairs bedrooms much cooler than the upstairs ones. Those sleeping downstairs will want to use extra blankets. Other than that, we were happy and comfortable.
P.S. There was a delay in getting our checkin instructions from the kind host. Jennifer mentioned they’ve been having issues with the VRBO system. I mention this as a heads up to future guests that you may need to reach out to her directly if you don’t get them. Once she found out, she was very responsive and communicated via phone and text in addition to the app. Thanks, Jennifer!
Lovely home with lots of amenities. Central location perfect for visiting many sites. Property manager extremely responsive and helpful. The house was immaculate and even had snacks! I highly recommend and would stay here again if we return to Rapid City.
Wanderlust is very conveniently located! It's only 10 minutes from Rushmore Crossing (Shopping Center & Restaurants), 10 minutes from Hwy 16 if you're heading to any of the Black Hills attractions, and 5 minutes from I-90 if you'd rather head to Deadwood for gambling, or the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
What makes this property unique
Besides the incredible location, because it's built on a hill, Wanderlust has views that are very unique to the area. Not only does the property has the most incredible Rapid City skyline view at night, but the Black Hills National Forest and Black Elk Peak is your skyline view in the daytime.
