This property was full of mold on walls and futon was covered in mold. We ended up after being there 30 minutes booking a hotel. I can say they gave me my money back quickly after i sent in the pictures. The pictures online are not what you walk into, very outdated.

The house is nice. Convenient to attractions. Rather dusty and needs a refresh with furnishings.
This stay was amazing. Everything we needed was available and working. Everything was clean and neat. The quaint, rustic cabin offered the perfect vibes for our winter stay. Would rent again in a heartbeat!

House was older but had some nice updates. It was extremely clean and cozy. Would absolutely stay there again. The only thing missing was a dishwasher. The entrance is a bit steep and has lots of steps up to the door but overall it was an amazing find for the price.

The cabin was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. The rope swing in the front yard was a very nice surprise for my two year old.
Even though the decor seemed to be 'early flea market', it added charm to an older cabin originally built for the terry family. Being set back from the road and in the trees helped it stay cool & quiet. Especially enjoyed the upgraded bathroom and kitchen. Also impressed with the extras provided: fast wifi, quality toiletries, the britta water pitcher, smart tv, laundry soap, and plenty of nice towels. Even a nice nature trail nearby. A pleasant place to spend our vacation.

Not for motorcyclists
Loved the cottage. However driveway not motorcycle friendly, and definitely not for truck and trailer. Narrow, gravel, and on incline with no turn around to get bikes back out.

Response from VrboOwner on 7 Sept 2024
Hi Lisa, Thank you for your compliment, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. We are truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with the driveway not being motorcycle-friendly and unsuitable for a truck and trailer. We understand how the narrow, gravel, and inclined driveway with no turnaround could have impacted your convenience and overall experience. We apologize for any frustration this may have caused. We still hope you enjoyed and had a great time, and we can't wait to host you again in one of our homes for another exceptional experience.
Small but sufficient hideaway. We enjoyed a long weekend. Went tubing in Canton. Bathroom is new and modern as well as kitchen. Old paneling sets a perfect rustic mood. We would return here
This cabin is in a secluded and wooded area right above the county road. (Far enough away for barely hearing any passing traffic.) It is certainly one of the older and original cabins at Lake Junaluska. We appreciated the updated bathroom and nice kitchen.
Backing out was a little tedious, but the beauty and restfulness of the cabin made it worth the navigating out.

Did not like that you could not shut bedroom doors and still have ac or heating. Parking was terrible, and the walkway to house was unsafe. Mouse traps on counter and next to fireplace was unforgivable

Waynesville cabin 3/30/24
The beds were hard as a rock and we woke up with bruises. The dryer is loud and overheats and takes way too long to dry things. There was dust and spiderwebs everywhere which made it hard for my asthmatic partner to breathe. THERE WAS A DEAD MOUSE IN THE LARGE BEDROOM CLOSET. One of us fell backwards out of one of the indoor rocking chairs so hard that they blacked out. The kitchen also didn't come with any oil, spices, teabags, etc.
But the wooden paneling and the view is nice! We liked having a TV; not sure why there was one in the big bedroom. This place is probably haunted too. 3 stars.

Jamie, thank you for your review. While we acknowledge that beds will not suit everyone's specific preferences, we regret that it was not suitable for your party. While the kitchen is stocked with all the cookware and utensils needed to prepare meals, food and other pantry items like coffee and tea are not typically stocked in the home. We encourage guests to plan ahead if they anticipate needing additional items during their stay. We sincerely apologize for any unwanted critters you encountered during your stay with us and appreciate you identifying this area in need of attention. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope we can host you again!

Wouldn't be my first choice.
Technically, the cabin itself is as shown in the photos. It was clean upon arrival with relatively easy access to Maggie & Waynesville. Internet works, water pressure is passable if not exactly invigorating, etc.
The first negative impression that greets you is the *undisclosed* Ring camera...despite Vacasa/VRBO policy requiring cameras to be disclosed in a property description. It's just a little creepy because it's located such that it would be able hear conversations from the screened in porch if activated, but the guests would have no way of knowing the camera was active since you can't see the indicator from there. In the search that lead me to Charlotte's Cabin, we actively ignored properties that had cameras so would obviously have skipped this one had we known.
The outside photos and lake view are clearly old and taken in winter. Current summer reality is a view of nothing but leaves and trees. I'm not even sure you could see sky directly over the cabin. Which, I think, contributes considerably to the relative humidity in the cabin always being around 70%, no matter how long the A/C runs (more on that later). In turn, the cabin smells incredibly musty. A little pruning would not only improve the "feel" of the place, but probably reduce maintenance costs for the exterior as well.
The word that comes to mind most is "user unfriendly". Like I said in the beginning, it's technically not bad, but the place just ends up being a little disappointing overall.
For example, the security code for the door appears to be someone's full 10 digit phone number. So, you have to remember a full 10 digit number that has no meaning to you rather than the owner/management resetting the number to some portion of the guest's phone number, which both increases the property's security by constantly changing and is more convenient for the guest. But, to add insult to injury, they've disabled the lock's manual throw so the code has to be entered *every* *single* *time* you enter...hope you didn't bring a lot of luggage or groceries.
Same with the WiFi password. Instead of something resembling real words, it's clearly been created by a password generator...long, random combination of symbols, numbers, and infrequently used letters.
Then there's the HVAC I mentioned earlier. I actually resorted to downloading the manuals for the mini split and the 3rd party thermostat to see if I was doing something wrong. Nope, it just wasn't behaving as one would expect. Once it starts cooling, the system just runs nonstop until you manually turn it off...woke up with the room temp at 62 with a set point of 70. As a matter of fact, once it started cooling, it kept cooling even if you raised the set point above the current room temp.
The TV is literally just a big monitor on the wall. If you don't have one or more streaming service accounts with apps in the Samsung OS, you're limited to Samsung's version of PlutoTV. Even with Netflix/Prime/HBO/etc., it's nice to be able to view local programming (news/weather/info) while you're visiting. Even if the owner can't justify a basic TV package to go along with the internet and Ring subscriptions, TVFool predicts the location should be able to get a number of OTA channels for the one time cost of installing an antenna.
Even the linens make you say "why"? They were clean, fluffy, relatively new...nothing wrong with quality. But, there were exactly 4 towels/wash cloths/hand towels to match the limit of 4 guests, I guess. Not really a problem for us as a couple, but could be with a larger party. As it is, the SO has lots of hair so the hair needs its own towel and the body gets another one. Add in the high humidity that never lets the towels get completely dry after use. Same with bed linens...if there were backups in case of an accident of some sort, I didn't find them. ...

William, thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback, we are glad to hear you enjoyed our cabin. We attempt to be as transparent with our listings as possible and provide accurate and current photos, amenities lists, and descriptions so guests can make an informed choice about what they are paying for and make the right decision for their needs. We encourage guests to reach out with any questions or concerns before booking, as we are happy to help. The ring camera only surveys the exterior yard and audio is disabled. We appreciate you letting us know that there is room for improvement and our local management will work together with our homeowner to better the unit for our future guests. We hope to have the chance to better impress you in the future!
We liked being so close to Lake Junaluska where we could walk around the lake. This cabin has a nice screened in porch that is ideal during the rain. Met all our needs!
