The property was as beautiful as advertised! It was very clean and the owners were very responsive when I had a question. I would caution that the ski in/out is a bit trickier than anticipated, but otherwise would highly recommend.

Excellent Big Sky Resort Stay

Our family of 9 had an amazing stay. The house was perfect with more than enough space for all of us. The views of Lone Peak are incredible and the house is just a 5 min drive to the main village. We would stay here again anytime coming back to Big Sky

Great Vacation

We were so fortunate to have found this wonderful place in Big Sky for our family vacation!! It is a great house and we (4 adults and 2 teenagers) were so comfortable there. Everything was so clean and the whole house was very well equipped with all we needed. I highly recommend The Swift Bear. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing stay in Big Sky!

This place was unbelievable for our family trip to Montana! Equipped with all the essentials - paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags...the little things that mean so much! Spacious and luxurious bedrooms, wonderful room for everyone. We enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, using the hot tub, and even using the snowball makers in the middle of June due to the unexpected snowfall! Would highly recommend!

Beautiful Stay!

This place was incredible! The house was really well stocked, which you know can be a make or break on your stay if your cooking a lot, which we ended up doing for all our meals this trip. It was great for our family of 8, plenty bedrooms and a huge round table which fit us perfectly for eating meals and playing games. You cannot beat the views! We had a moose visit our yard while we were having coffee one morning. Just incredible! The communication was super easy and they had the perfect recommendations to enhance our stay. I'd stay here again the next time we visit Big Sky.

Big Sky Family Vacation

Overall the house was very comfortable. For a summer stay the house location is next to a very busy road with endless construction traffic and therefore the house was noisy. Since windows needed to be open in the morning and evening to enjoy cool air the traffic noise was unavoidable as the house does not have air conditioning.

Thank you for choosing Swift Bear Base-INN for your Big Sky adventure! We are thrilled you enjoyed the home. Note for future guests: the house does sit above and off the main road, the road is about 150 yards away from the home creating a nice separation with greenery in between (see exterior photos). Always let us know if we can assist with any questions regarding the location of the home.

Wonderful with a high end “log cabin” vibe.

Perfect fit for parents, grandparents and 5 college students. Views of the Big Sky ski area from the huge windows were fantastic especially at sunrise. Large well stocked open kitchen with double ovens. Great hot tub! Long winding driveway is not plowed so believe it when they say AWD/4x4 vehicle a must- our AWD sedan got stuck but ok when we put the chains on. The SUV, jeep and outback did fine.

We are thrilled to hear you all enjoyed yourselves and the home! It would be our pleasure to invite you back in the future. Note for future travelers: We do have the driveway plowed and the decks/entryways shoveled. The driveway is steep and curvy, as are most of the roads in Big Sky. For any stays during the winter months you will need a 4WD or AWD vehicle.

Our new happy place!

Best VRBO property we have stayed by far. The place was spotless and had everything we needed to hang out, cook, sleep and enjoy Montana. The views were unbelievable. We did puzzles, sang karaoke, sat by the fire, played cards and had a blast. The ski resort was so close (about a mile away). We loved the ski out option, we never quite made it back the right way - but made it an adventure anyway! We will most definitely be coming back! The management company made things very easy, they were flexible and responsive. Thank you for an unforgettable weekend away with friends and family!

Beautiful Home But not Good Ski Access

This is a lovely property, but is advertised as easy ski access which is not accurate. It takes at least 30/35 minutes to get home at the end of the day. You will need to take your skis off twice and requires extensive poling to get home. You also cross streets that are not always snow covered and my husband was almost hit trying to cross.

Mostly great stay.

The property is beautiful and easy to access. Big shortfall was the expectation that it was ski in/out. It definitely isn't and consumed a big chunk of our first day there. It requires a great deal of traversing and some had to take their skis off at points. It's only a short distance to either lodge by car, but it should not be advertised as ski in and out. In addition the gas fireplace in the main living room did not work. The management company responded to our calls but told us it needed to be replaced at the end of the season and couldn't be repaired. The kitchen is well appointed but there is no space for any food items, we had to use the laundry room as a pantry. Overall the house is very nice and we loved the radiant heated floors. We would rent it again with managed expectations

It was our pleasure to host you and the crew, thank you for choosing the Swift Bear Base-INN for your Big Sky adventure! We apologize for any inconvenience caused to the group from the ski access. Note to future guests: the home is ski in/out, meaning there are groomed trails taking you to/from the resort. Please reference the ski access description for a better understanding of the route. We are also available to further discuss should any questions arise. Additionally, the home is under 5-minute drive from either base area should you want to access the main lifts more promptly when getting your day started.

Great House

Our group really enjoyed the house (intermediate to expert skiers). The house is beautiful, spacious, spotless, and has an amazing view of the summit. Communication with the property manager was easy. Everything worked in the house as advertised and expected. The hot tub was fantastic, but note that it took the entire first night to heat up. Would be nice if the management had the tub heated upon arrival. The mud room and garage were convenient and there is a boot warmer/dryer in the garage also places for boards and skis. The bedrooms are fair sizes and a really nice master bath with heated floors. Ski out is possible but skiing back in can be tricky. I would not recommend it for snowboarders. There is a groomed traverse path in front of the house. However it was very thin snow for us. With proper snowfall the ski out could be much easier. We found the best option was an easy drive to Maddison Base where parking was much easier. Overall had a great time and would stay again.

Clean and spacious mountain house

We had a wonderful time in Big Sky! The house was impeccably clean and the kitchen and common areas were spacious and perfect for our group of 10. The kids loved the air hockey table and we all enjoyed the hot tub (love that they empty, clean and refill the tub between each rental). The master bed/bath is large and beautiful and the garage (with boot dryers) and mudroom were an added bonus! And you can’t beat the views! A few things to note for future renters: 1) This property is advertised as ski in/ski out - skiing out to the mountain is fairly easy (you do have to ski across the street to get to the path), but skiing back in is very tricky - it requires a somewhat treacherous skate over to the Cascade chair which is difficult to get to (especially with younger kids) and the chair itself goes over the road and is a bit of a frightening ride with no safety bar. And then you have to climb a tall set of stairs and then ski down a long street to get to another path that leads to the house. When we did it there was not enough snow on the street so we had to walk a long way carrying our skis which is not what we expected for a ski in/out house. 2) I would recommend having multiple 4WD vehicles for larger groups - the ski shuttles do not stop at this particular neighborhood and Ubers are scarce. 3) One of the full baths on the lower level is small with stairs that lead to a tiny shower - it’s a little awkward and not that user friendly so most of us ended up sharing the other full bath. It snowed a ton while we were there and the skiing was awesome, overall a great trip and comfortable accommodations.

It was our pleasure to host you and the crew, thank you for choosing the Swift Bear Base-INN for your Big Sky adventure! Note to future guests: Please reference our listing description to better understand the ski access. The route home will require some skate skiing and a walk up a set of stairs when getting off the Cascade lift. The trail home (Trail B) sits above the road, this is groomed by Big Sky Resort. Please reach out with any questions you have to better understand the ski access.
