About this property

On the Riverbend Cabin

This cabin is on the river banks of the Canoochee River in Claxton, GA. The location is quiet and serene. It has kayaks on the property for you to enjoy. It is a great place to be with the family, nature, and yourself. No pets or smoking inside of the premises.
Note: Presently, winter months are not available to be booked. The past two winters have had excessive flooding. Host will make these weeks available two weeks at a time as the water level is adequate for guest.
A cabin with three bedrooms and two baths. A great place to relax and roast marshmallows
next to a campfire. Afternoon walks throughout the property is refreshing.
This whole cabin is for you to use. However, there is a bathhouse behind the cabin for the
tent guest nearby.  It is designed that you should not even know they are there.
The access roads are not "county maintained". You will travel down 1.5 miles of dirt roads. However, my compact car handles it well. You will find it worth the bumpy ride!
Your vehicle will be dusty on a dry day and muddy on a rainy day. You will not escape with a
clean vehicle.
Kayaks are available for your enjoyment.
I typically check in with the guest via text or email. I expect the guest to contact me with any questions or concerns. If I hear nothing, I believe that all is well in paradise. There are other cabins in the area; therefore, my husband or I maybe doing maintenance on a cabin in the
area.
Remote, secluded area in Claxton, GA. It is located 30 minutes from Georgia Southern University. Savannah, Ga is a little over one hour away. The small town of Claxton is 10 minutes away. Claxton has many fast food restaurants and Dollar General. Claxton is the home of the
Claxton Fruitcake.
There is not public transportation.
Wifi is available through "Skyroam" The hotspot device is provided. Do not depend on it for school or work deadlines. 1 GB will provided. Extra gigabytes can be purchased from the host.
Provided bath linens are one set per guest (one bath towel and one wash cloth).
Cleaning fee has not been charged/transferred to guest. Therefore, guest are expected to leave the cabin as received.
It is a simple life. Guest whom are looking for the "resort" experience will be disappointed. White glove and high maintenance guest will not be content.
No pets
No smoking inside.
No target shooting with firearms

Weekend Get Away
Originally this was to be a trip for multiple family members but it was just my husband and I. Cabin is nice , clean and cozy. We did not get to enjoy the outdoor activities this time but enjoyed seeing the River rise due to all the rain. It has quite a quick current. I recommend if you do not enjoy sulfur water make sure to bring plenty of bottled water. The location is remote and quiet but is convenient to fast food options and a grocery store.

Disliked: Communication
The property was very quiet, roomy and different,I did not like the owner coming around to demand $5 per person for my nephews(3) and 2 friends of theirs who had come to celebrate one nephews graduation from high school with a barbeque we had provided for them. The kayaks and life jackets were dirty and not in good repair ,i placed them together but could not move some as the were full of water from rain storms!I made sure that the home was very clean and tidy before we left .As the owner seemed to want to squeeze every cent out of people staying there and expressed her dislike of paying exorbitant rates to companies dealing with the rental process.Definitely will not return here to this owner.

Unique place
The place was unique and had rustic character. While comfortable, the sulfur smell of the water was unbearable at times. The dirt road to get there was pretty rough and if it had rained, we would not have been able to pass in our small car.

Cozy cabin
Nice little cabin by the river. We arrived during Hurricane Nicole and the dirt road in was a challenge lol. If you don’t want your vehicle to get dirty this is not for you! We have a 4x4 truck so we took it as it came. The cabin was well appointed with basic kitchen items, towels and a complimentary set of toiletries. Most importantly the cabin was CLEAN! Be very patient with Wi-Fi and your cell reception. It’s practically nonexistent! Overall we were pleased and would consider staying again if in the area.
