About this property
Historic Cottage in Downtown Sarasota
This 1937 home, called the Doll House, was used by the Ringling Circus for performers. Rumor has it that the Doll Family, famous for playing munchkins in the Wizard of Oz, lived here.
This recently renovated tiny home has maintained the old charm while adding modern amenities. Enjoy 2 beds/2 baths, central AC, electric fireplace, outdoor seating, office space, and Tesla charger. Note: This home is a two unit home, with the current listing occupying the front unit and front yard. The back unit and back yard are occupied by another unit.
This home is located within historic Laurel Park, a neighborhood of single family homes and apartment buildings, adjacent to the heart of the City of Sarasota. This highly sought-after community with its friendly neighbors has access to a kayak launch and is within short walk to the city's downtown district. Oh, and yes, there is an actual park, Laurel Park, located within the namesake neighborhood. This house is conveniently: 3 min drive downtown, 10 min airport, 15 min beach, and 2 min kayak launch.
With few commercial structures, but easy access to restaurants, shops, and parks, Laurel Park is the urbanist ideal of a walkable community (score of 88 out of 100). Highlights of the walkable attractions include: Payne Park, Selby Gardens, and Sarasota Art Museum.
We can make your vacation, honeymoon, birthday or romantic getaway special (e.g., chocolate covered strawberries, balloons, baked goods, massage). Inquire about more details.

About the host
Hosted by Sidney Turner

I am a scientist that loves to explore and learn about new places! When traveling, my preference is to live as the locals live vs. going to all of the tourist spots.
My life motto is: Live the life you love and love the life you live.

Why they chose this property
My husband and I fell in love with Laurel Park, a historic neighborhood in Sarasota that is close walking distance to downtown and easily driveable to airports, beaches, and all of the wonderful things that Sarasota has to offer.
When an old historic home came on that market that used to house circus performers for Ringling Circus, we decided to buy and fix it up. We lived in the home and renovated it, paying homage to the circus history of the property. We believe the space has modern conveniences while also maintaining the character of the original home. You will notice the door knobs and some of the sinks are quite low as it is believed the little people from the circus stayed in this home. We hope you love it as much as we do!
