Cradled in the Copper Mountain and on the border of Joshua Tree and 29 Palms is Hartsville. Hartsville is located on a cul-de-sac up on a hill with AMAZING VIEWS of the desert valley and the city lights below. Private 5 acres of land with plenty of room to hike and explore - BLM surrounds land on mountain. Inside - enjoy a game of pool, darts, books, games in the air conditioned house. Outside - private, serene and secluded. Relax and chill from the hustle of city life.
At night, it's a celestial paradise. Stargaze while the winds soothe you. Close to either entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and close to all the happenings 29 Palms and JT has to offer.

Quiet retreat after long days hiking the National Park
Quiet retreat after long days of hiking at the nearby Joshua Tree National Park. Felt isolated and off the beaten path but only a stone’s throw from the National Park and town. FULL amenities, quiet and peaceful surroundings. DARK skies with absolutely beautiful view of the stars overhead.Need extra days just to explore all of the items in the “cabin” - so many fun mementos and a variety of things to explore inside.Owners were very responsive and friendly. Cabin was clean and well maintained. Good water pressure in the shower (). Good wifi connection. Very comfortable and relaxing. Definitely recommend!
Thank you, Hartsville for another wonderful stay. Your home is in a perfect location, it’s clean, comfortable, and wonderfully eclectic!Hope to visit again soon!
Had a great time, we loved our stay. Very nice place to relax and unwind. Sat by the fire and looked at the beautiful sky with all the stars. Played pool and dart and watched movies. a couple good movies.
The house is clean, and provides a fun reprieve from the desert. When beed a break from exploring and the sun, enjoy pool/darts and a great record collection. It is a bit no frills, but comfortable and star gazing by the fire was great!
It was an amazing stay so much character inside the home and lots of activities to do. The view was amazing and peaceful tha kyou for a wonderful weekend
The Hartsville is a unique stay with all the comfort of home but lots of unique character. There is so much to do in the house that you don't need to leave. Beautiful views of the surrounding desert. Everything you need except your clothes and food is there. While I knew it was on a dirt road the only thing I wasn't prepared for was how far done it was but it was easily managed in my car. Communication with the host was easy.
This property was immaculate! Serene landscape with that quiet seclusion that we were looking for! Perfect weather to utilize eating outside. Extremely comforting and cozy home with antiques and trinkets that make it super engaging yet not overwhelming! Amazing accommodations!

Amazing little space with such a fun relaxing vibe. Would for sure return for another stay.
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Hartsville! This eclectic cabin retreat is so cool. The decor has all the right vibes and the added touches like body soap, shampoo, bottled water and light snacks was a nice touch! The property and views were out of this world! Mireille was wonderful to communicate with! She was so responsive and helpful. We would definitely love to stay again!!
This was my first rental experience. Delighted it was here at Hartsville😃! Communication w/the hosts was a breeze & have such speedy replies. The cabin itself was a retro/eclectic dream. And the location - you appreciate the Cali desert - is unparalleled! The sun cresting the distant hills to the wondrous night sky. The stunning silence I felt out there was, for me, tranquility defined. A thousand (or at least 29🌴 haha) thanks for sharing the abode. Cheers!
The property is very secluded, back against the mountains.
Quiet is an understatement.
The sky is observable in all directions, with any telescope or good binoculars!
The stay was very comfortable and eclectic.
Our host is an Angel, and very helpful.
Would love to visit again,soon!!
Thank you!!!
We had a wonderful stay. Love the location. Easy to get to, but still had privacy and great views. Thank you for the warm welcome. I felt very at home and we will definitely be back again!
PS: My daughter had her fill of candy from the machine but left several pennies for the next person:)
Great place to stay! So many little details make it fun and relaxing. Really enjoyed the record collection and overall design! Very comfortable. Great hosts, would definitely stay again.

About the host

We grew up in the city and are native Californians. We found each other then found this gem out in the desert. We decided to open up our home so that others can experience the delights the desert offers.
Why they chose this property
This is our getaway from reality! We used to visit Giant Rock as kids and ride motorcycles through the desert. It was always a good time and a great place to be. Being out in the desert air, hiking though the National Park, and finding old abandoned mines and trails with plenty of surprises.
What makes this property unique
We love this property because it sits up on the mountain of 5 acres of land with incredible views. The property is warm, inviting and comfortable. There's plenty of area to hike including down in the wash, and up to the other side of the mountain to the top.
At night the breeze picks up and is the most wonderful feeling. It's incredible the amount of stars that come out. Truly spectacular.
It's far enough from the city, yet a 2 hour drive to L.A. However, you will feel like you are in a different world.
