Highlands getaway
We had a lovely time at this property. The home is beautiful and nestled in the woods just a short 10 minute drive to downtown Highlands. The outdoor fireplace on the deck was a perfect way to relax and enjoy outside after a day of hiking. The owner was incredibly responsive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. A great home away from home !

Cozy environment
The house was beautiful with a cozy feel! The screened in porch was very nice and we enjoyed seeing a few deer on the property enjoying morning coffee. The house is an easy short drive to downtown highlands and also the hiking trails. My husband, daughter, dog, and I really enjoyed our stay!! :)

About the host

Hello! We are the Carters. Karen, Mike, Bentley and Ophelia who are our Blue Merle mini Australian Shepherds that inspired the name of the property. In fact, it was on our first trip to Highlands where we were strolling through Main St. when Bentley became part of our family and it was love at first site. We have recently added Ophelia to our tribe. We enjoy hiking, traveling both domestic and internationally, listening to live music, going to the beach and boating.

Why they chose this property

After visiting Highlands and experiencing the splendor of the area, we knew this is where we wanted to settle. Highlands is perfectly located for our family and friends to come together. Whether we are hiking and exploring the many waterfalls, grilling a family meal on the wrap-around deck, or gathering for a fire on the retreat, this home has space for everyone including our fur babies.

What makes this property unique

Our favorite part of the home is the retreat connected to the primary bedroom. It is the perfect place to unwind with a roaring fire after an active day or to curl up with a good book during a rainy day. A very close second would be enjoying coffee on the main deck while watching the sunrise over the mountains....truly spectacular! Our home has 5 fireplaces, some gas with remote start, some wood burning with gas start, and some strictly wood burning. The location is unique in that it feels remote due to the surroundings, but modern conveniences like grocery, dining, and luxury shopping are only a few miles away.
