Experience the beauty of Highlands in this freshly decorated and well kept property! Escape to the beautiful luxury property "Bonnie Cottage"! This home is 1/2 mile from Half Mile Farm, perfect for families, sleeps 8 adults and 2 children comfortably with 3.5 baths with 2 huge garden tubs and 3 showers, 4 queen beds upstairs in 2 huge bedrooms, king bed in master bedroom with full en suite bath, finished basement is darling with ship lap and trundle bed and full rain shower! Winter view of Satula Mountain. Full kitchen with updated appliances and full size washer/dryer. Large double deck to sit and watch nature while you have a glass of wine or coffee! Being so close to town, you truly have the best of both worlds in this quiet mountain retreat! Wide plank hardwood floors throughout, fresh paint, large library with huge picture windows to sit and read and enjoy the natural beauty of the Highlands! Walk to downtown and Mirror Lake or make the short drive. If you are going in town to an event, or some thing, fancy or at night, you will want to drive and not walk. We do accept up to 2 well trained dogs with a $200 pet fee. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or in the beds. **Please note that we, thankfully, are not inside the zoning areas where short term rentals are being restricted In Highlands after 2023 and we do not support the actions of Town of Highlands in restricting our fellow short term rental neighbors in Highlands and have given money to their cause, even though we are outside the zoning restrictions. Because we are outside the zoning restrictions, we are accepting reservations for all of 2025.

Amazing home!

If we could give this rental more than 5 stars we would! The house was inviting, well-stocked, lovely and very comfortable. The location was great and the porch provided us with a lovely view! There were a lot of little extras such as books games, etc. Communication with owner was outstanding! I only wish we could have stayed longer!

The perfect getaway in Highlands! Bonnie Cottage was even cuter in person, and offered us everything we needed and more. The house was spotless, and the welcome bag made our stay that much sweeter. We will definitely be staying here in the future!

We can't say enough about this vacation rental!! It's located just a few miles from Highlands and is clean and well stocked to accommodate 9 travelers. The hosts are very responsive as well.

Destination Family Wedding in the area

We had a family wedding at Flat Mountain Farm (which is an awesome venue). We needed a place for the family to stay. This place was beautiful, just so lovely. So much more than we expected that we hated to leave. The hosts were very accommodating. Five stars for sure.

Beautiful livable home very close to downtown Highlands

Beautiful Home with lovely artwork. From the porch you look out at trees and feel like you are in a treehouse. It is very peaceful and very comfortable. The owners were very helpful and prompt in answering any questions. Definitely a wonderful home for a family vacation!

Very nice accommodations!

We could not have booked a better home for our stay in the Highlands! This place has it all! It is very spacious, from the living room, bed rooms, back yard porches, everyone was comfortable! It has a well stocked pantry, something we’ve not had before! We only used a few granola bars for a couple of hiking adventures but had so much more to use at our disposal! We were there for a family wedding and really our only disappointment was not enough downtime to spend enjoying the home! Oh and the art decorating the home was beautiful! Kuddos to having a very special place and will definitely look forward to coming back and booking again!

Bonnie Cottage Offers Stunning Views wrapped in A Cozy Home

Without question, the Highland area is certainly a gem! My family and I make it a point to visit the mountains yearly and our stay at Bonnie Cottage made that possible in the best way! The rooms are very well maintained with ample bedding and nice mattresses. Additionally, the kitchen is very well appointed with many baking/cooking accessories to whip up a quick meal for any travel-weary guests! Best of all, most of our group were fortunate enough to spy a mother bear and cub! I cannot speak enough about the beautiful home and its view, nor the thoughtfulness of the owners! Thank you for sharing your home to give us this wonderful vacation :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. The home doesn’t feel like a VRBO, but rather a gorgeous “home”. There are SO many beautiful pieces of artwork! The home has a great layout and we really enjoyed the library where you're bound to find a great book to read given the extensive collection. Very clean and neat house! Lots of sleeping options and rooms. Kitchen so well equipped with lots of pans, dishes, utensils, wine glasses, mugs, etc. Everything neat as a pin and artwork on the walls done by the owner which makes it special and colorful. Beautiful furniture and very nice deck with great view. All in all it is one of the best VRBOs I’ve ever stayed at. Highly recommend!

Why they chose this property

It is a dream come true for us to have a home in the Highlands. We have been coming here for almost 24 years and are thrilled to be able to share our love of the Highlands with you and your family. We love being close to downtown Highlands and the Bascom Arts Center, with all of the beauty of nature and a winter view of Satula Mountain. It is nice to have a short drive (about 5 minutes) from town in case you need milk or just driving home after dinner, it is so close that it is very convenient. That was one of the most important criteria for us. The home was originally built by an engineer, so it is well built and it has a generator in case the power goes off, all wide plank hardwood floors, fresh paint and all new furniture and decor. We were also impressed that it has a great air filter and it smelled fresh and was well cared for! The landscaping is gorgeous, with laurel trees, and beautiful native plants with a paved driveway, sidewalk and even a little secret garden in the front yard! It is private without being far away and isolated from town.

What makes this property unique

Since one of the owners is an artist, there is a lot of original artwork for you to enjoy during your stay. We wanted a home with a bath tub, and this one has 2 huge bathtubs with an instant hot water heater, and 3 separate showers so that several people can get ready at once. There are 2 huge bedrooms upstairs, both having 2 queen beds each, and each one has reading nooks, which we love. There is a library with a fun collection of books to read in front of a huge picture window with leather recliners and views of nature on the main floor. There is also a coffee bar upstairs with a Keurig and a Bunn coffee maker in the kitchen because we believe that coffee is important to a fun vacation get-away. We also leave guests with a complimentary bottle of wine to enjoy. All of the mattresses are new, as are the linens, comforters and pillows. Fresh toiletries and linens are provided. There is a full sized washer and dryer off the kitchen. Laundry detergent is provided for your convenience, as are dryer sheets. There is a swing on the lower deck to enjoy and adirondack chairs with a gas grill and small table on the upper deck. The main room has a farm table and comfortably seats 6. There is a full kitchen with a trash compactor. We have a bear proof trash can and weekly trash service.
