Cormeilles:
With so much to explore, you will never lack something to do. Walks along the river to the local supermarket, the theatre just along the walkway opposite the house. Take the Pétanque set provided to the Pétanque court which sits alongside the river, again just along the walkway opposite. Lots of mapped and way-marked walks or just a walk up the hill from the house for beautiful views over Cormeilles and surrounding countryside.

The Surrounding Area:
Just 30-mins away from the stylish seaside towns of Deauville & Trouville - for a swim in the sea or a polo match. Visit local chateaux, William the Conquerer's chateau in Falaise just 1-hr drive away. 20-mins from Lisieux, packed with activities including Kayaking on the river, another fantastic market and stacks of historical buildings. Animal-lovers will delight at the opportunity to milk goats (optional) at the local goat farm just 12-mins drive away where you can buy the local cheese too. Cerza safari park also just 12 mins drive away (complimentary passes included). Two local fishing lakes; one at the edge of the town (walking distance), the other 2 miles away. Normandy landings also just a 1-hr drive away. Pony l’Eveque, with it’s beautiful swimming lake and lakeside bar, and Liverot - home of the local cheeses just 25-min. Pont Audermer for historic tanneries, 25-mins. Brocantes, town fairs and outdoor concerts held throughout the summer.

A family-owned home, with a lot of travel experience between us, we have given great thought to what makes the perfect holiday home. A beautiful, comfortable and relaxing space, blissful sleep, inspiring cook's kitchen (newly fitted) and a holiday to remember.

Within an hour's drive of ferry ports of Ouistreham and Le Harve and just 3 hours from the Eurotunnel terminal.

Nice property, well located
Nicely furnished, well equipped house, literally a couple of minutes walk from Cormeilles centre. Easy parking (we parked right outside every day without effort). Joanne responded very quickly to a couple of minor queries. We would stay again.

A relaxing time in a beautifully quirky house
Had a great 10 night break in Cormeilles. The town is typical of this part of France and is very pretty with everything that you need for day to day living and a lovely river that winds all through the town. There is a food market every Friday and we made good use of Mr Sulky's coffee shop and the bakery a couple of doors down. There is a supermarche which is a pleasant 10 min walk away where you can buy everything you need to cook at home. The house is a wonderfully quirky shape. There are no square rooms here and it's great fun! The staircase is lovely and was my favourite part, although they are steep so may be an isdue for some. Beds are super comfy, kitchen was well equipped. The fridge is pretty small in the kitchen, so we shopped small and often, but there is another one in the outside garden room, which is well stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks (operates on an honesty policy) so it all worked for us. The owners are wonderful. There was a fault with the internet which they went out of their way to fix very quickly and were also very helpful with recommending things to do in the area. Would recommend

Wonderful village
The property is very tastefully restored and located in the centre of the village. Be sure to take time to discover the village and chat with the locals in one of the cafés near the property. We enjoyed spending time in the cafés and restaurants surrounding the home. The hosts are charming and very accommodating. An excellent welcome package with local specialties was awaiting us upon our arrival and communication with the owners was superb. They really do have the comfort of their guests in mind. The only cautionary comment we would make is that the wooden stairway leading from the ground floor to upper floors can be difficult to navigate with luggage. Any adults who are not entirely steady on their feet or young children will need to take special care.

Leuk goed gelegen knus traditioneel huis

Wonderful house and super nice hosts!
The house is beautiful and has great charm. We sat on the terrace every evening and enjoyed the sound of the brook that flows right next to the house. The house is well equipped and the hosts are always ready to give recommendations and tips. Thank you very much, we will definitely be back :-)

We are a family who have holidayed in this area for many years. We love and know the area extremely well, although every time we visit, we find something new and interesting. We'd be happy to share any tips and ideas to make your holiday special to you. We know that a holiday needs to meet the needs and wants of all family members - and as a family with teenage kids and diverse interests, we have given great thought to how this beautiful home and outdoor area, feels and functions. With a creative dreamer (I call it visionary!) non-mum, a down-to-earth, practical mum, a dad with very high standards and a non-dad who sees things differently - we have created a unique holiday experience to remember.

Why they chose this property

This stylish 170 year old house on the river, with it's riverside terrace and garden room by the rushing water is a really special place. The garden room which adjoins the riverside terrace has an honesty bar, Nespresso machine, cinema, foosball, dartboard and plenty of comfortable seating including a hanging egg chair an Ercol rocking chair and hammock. Every effort has been made to create a truly inspirational yet relaxing space both inside and out. All the bed linens are 100% bamboo for that silky, luxury resort feeling. We have always loved Cormeilles, with it's bar/cafes, restaurants, Calvados distillery, market day and so much more. We have really connected with this house with it's views over typical Normandy architecture, to the countryside beyond. To walk into the small town to buy top quality seafood, vegetables, cheese, meats is an absolute joy. The kitchen/dining area is for foodies :-).

What makes this property unique

Maison de la Calonne is truly unique. Whilst it sits on the edge of town, walking distance to all that you want and need, it sits right on the Calonne river. The terrace and garden room make the most of this aspect and you will never tire of listing to the rushing water, watching and listening to the birds whilst sipping a cold drink from the chilled honesty bar.

A note on sleep - we use only feather duvets and pillows which are all encased in zipped anti-allergen protectors. Mattresses also in zipped anti-allergen protectors. We also use 100% bamboo linens - which also help with temperature regulation and feel like total, silky luxury.
