Great house for family visit to attend goldcup. We were not in the house itself very much, but this would be a great place to just stay around—the home & grounds are terrific entertainment.
It was readily accessible to family in the area and those traveling to it. Game rooms were excellent for the children. Within easy distance to places in the area
Bull Run Retreat is a beautiful getaway!! It went above other VRBOs with how well stocked it was ! The extra necessities provided in the bathroom bailed us out a couple times and the snacks was a wonderful touch!! The setting was stunning!!
Fantastic location for a wine weekend. Close to Middleburg, Delaplane and Manassas Location was quiet and relaxing. The guys really enjoyed the game room. Nice views. An all around enjoyable weekend.
Beautiful home in a breathtaking location! Everything you need to escape. Comfortable and clean. Check in was seamless and response from communication with host was lightening fast. Will definitely visit again!
We enjoyed a quiet weekend on this beautiful property. It is set back off the road and manages to find a balance between being in the woods and having a well-manicured lawn. There was plenty of space for us to be together or spread out. We made use of the games room and home theater as well. We also enjoyed the close proximity (40 mins) to DC and then coming back to a quiet retreat.
We loved staying here! The property was very clean on arrival, the beds were comfortable, and the basement game room & movie room were definite hits with my family! We loved watching movies on the big screen tv and playing pool, video games/pinball, and air hockey in the game room. There was a huge outdoor area with a firepit, grill and lots of room for our dog to roam. Close by was a great weekend food market with AMAZING barbeque and French pastries. We were within 15-20 minutes of a range of other good restaurants, supermarket, and shopping.
Property was very spacious - inside and especially outside. House situated nicely on wooded lot away from road, plenty of outdoor areas to gather. Chickens in neighbor's yard were entertaining, also has a resident black squirrel. Close enough to Haymarket for shopping, was also close to Halcyon Watson (Gilbert's Corner) where the wedding venue was.
I brought my team of managers here for an annual get together. The house was amazing and perfect for our event. The game room kept us busy and the upstairs living area was roomy enough for us to do some team-building. The house had all the amenities we could ask for. The outdoors is gorgeous. The property manager was quick to answer any questions I had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat - and will definitely be back - thanks!
We had a girls night in before my daughter’s wedding. It was super cozy and had all the hotel feels. Plus bonus game and movie rooms added to the fun. We didn’t get to have much outside time because of the weather (we did get snow) but the inside fireplace allowed us to still have our s’mores.
On thing to consider is the parking. It’s at the top of a steep hill but once up there we were fine.
Definitely would rent again!
The house was nice and in a quiet neighborhood. The only issue we had was the heat in the bedrooms on the second floor. It took several hours at the end of each day to cool off. Overall though, it is a lovely home and several amenities for everyone there from pool table, air hockey and a basketball ball court outside. We’d stay again but probably in the fall next time.
The house was clean. But there were issues. I am not sure why, but we were expected to sign a damage clause and yet one of the first things we noticed we noticed was one of the pool table pockets was missing, another was broken. When we reached out we were sent a message back asking us to use a bucket and blanket to catch the balls. Next, the top floor bathroom faucets were barely attached to the sink and shower and the air conditioner windows in those bedrooms were not installed properly, which meant bugs were everywhere. The one had a nest of some sort inside the foam that was used to hold the unit in place. There was a dish washer to use but no dishwasher detergent. There was a fireplace with one piece of wood and no instructions on how to use it. The main floor shower door doesn't open all the way because the toilet is too close. The house was just okay. It could really use a bit of loving and care. I would not stay here again.
Pros-Centrally located for our first family trip to DC area.-comfortably beds and linens-space for our group of 7-Fun! Games and activities to do during down time-A/c unit for each upper bedroom to keep them cool-stocked kitchen-variety of outdoor spaces to enjoy-LOTS of deck seating.-owner is very responsive Con:-so many stairs, some steep, some slippery. Not the best for grandparents who were vacationing with us.-this is an older home that is currently a work in progress. Has a ton of potential, a few areas are completed, just not quite there yet.-bedroom a/c units are loud, that is just their nature.-don’t store anything on the counter ants may love. Owners seem to be trying to address this, but some of it, is just the nature of a more rural location.
Pro's: -The location was excellent. Right where we wanted to be. -The Game room was also nice to have. -Kitchen was equipped with spices and such.Con's:. -The A/C system was not up to speed for cooling the third floor where 3 of the 4 bedrooms were located. Our guests had to sleep on sofa's on the first and second floor to be cool.-The grass was not cut.-The grill was not clean. -The deck furniture was very dirty. We had to clean off the chairs and the table just to sit down.-The refrigerator was missing a shelf. You would think for the price we paid it would have been taken care of before we arrived.
The host Orlando is extremely efficient. He gave clear precise directions and check-in / check-out was easy.
The house was huge for my party of nine. Loaded game room kept the kids entertained. Streaming tv’s were in every room and there was a man cave with a large leather couch and large tv.
It is one flight of steps to get to main living area and master bed room and another flight to get to three nice guest bed rooms.
Three full baths - one on each level.
An hour drive to DC or 40 minutes to Bull Run Battlefields.
Peaceful and quiet.
Nice outdoor play area with lots of outdoor seating. N
Highly recommend! +++++
We stayed 2 nights with family. We will not be staying again. When we arrived, all of the deck furniture was in the yard and the front storm door was falling out of the jam (so it didn't shut), The railing on the brick stairs was wobbly and there was a loose railing on the deck which a child could have fallen through. The bottom rack of the dishwasher was missing some wheels so tended to sit on the bottom spinners. There was a hole through the wall in the bedroom upstairs and the basement shower reeked of sewage after it was used. Contrary to the pictures, there was no hot tub or grill that we could find anywhere on the property. Out on the deck, yellow jackets routinely visited us, so the owner may want to look for a nest under the deck. The location was private as it was up a hill and back off the road in the subdivision. It was also convenient for family driving from Richmond and the DC area. There were only 8 place settings and limited kitchen utensils, so consider supplementing if you choose to rent this home. When running the AC, the temperature varied widely between the basement (cold) versus the upstairs (hot) so the the vents may need adjusting. We had to purchase toilet paper as no extra rolls were provided. In the upstairs bathroom, a glass shower door had been removed, but the caulking and nail holes were still present and the tile by the bathtub had not been grouted. Paint was peeling off the door in the 2nd bedroom. Bottom line, the house needs a lot of TLC.

Response from VrboOwner on 2 Sept 2024
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. None of the mentioned issues were brought to our attention during the stay. The wood deck and house were recently repaired and repainted and the furniture was placed in the yard. There are ample toiletries under the sinks and plenty of serving utensils in the kitchen for up to 10 persons. We also have paper products for additional usage.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this cozy mountain home. My kids enjoyed their own space in the lower level game rooms. The bedroom furniture is nice and the mattresses are comfortable. Providing robes and toiletries is a nice touch. House was very clean. We enjoyed walking the property and having outdoor fires.
Owner is very responsive and easy to work with. A lot of nice hotel type touches throughout. Dining room chairs are folding chairs and are not that comfortable for long conversations, but the main floor living room furniture is nice with lots of pillows and blankets available. The kids loved the game room and TV room on the walkout basement level.
Master bedroom and bathroom is very nice. The other bedrooms upstairs are quiet and spacious. (One of the mattresses should be replaced but the others are comfortable).
Overall, we enjoyed our quiet long weekend at this property.
Well located to all Northern Virginia has to offer. Quiet mountainsi home with great backyard. Has all the amenities one needs for a relaxing stay. Orlando, point of contact, was pleasure to work with.
