About this property

Private Cabin on Pelican Lake with Premium Views

Watch amazing Pelican Lake sunsets after a day of fishing on the shores of our west-facing mid-mod cabin. Marvel at the silhouettes of the red and white pines as the night falls around your campfire. Explore the natural path leading through the trees along the water- where you can truly feel restored and cleansed. The gentle slope leading from the cabin to the water offers amazing fishing right off the dock and along our shoreline. The cabin and entire point were at one time a popular summer camp and ours was the camp director's cabin. The remodeled master bedroom has a new ensuite and another bathroom serves the two bunk beds for the rest of the gang. Full size kitchen allows you to cook your meals at the cabin or explore a few of the local restaurants, but really, you may not want to leave.

Lakeside oasis
We recently had a great trip “up north.” This property was great for our family. Lots of outdoor and indoor games. The kids loved paddle boarding and laying in the hammock. We loved the lake side fires and watching sunsets on the water. The host were gracious enough to move the dock to accommodate our pontoon rental for the week. They were also great at responding to our inquiries. We had all the amenities we needed for the week. Bait shop and local grocery were also near by. We hope to return.

Paul and I, Heidi, love our cabin and hope you will too. I like to start my day with a walk in the woods, or down the gravel road and usually find myself spending copious amounts of time on the dock. Paul loves boating and building fires to watch the sun set.

Why they chose this property

Woods, water, west-facing, and at the gateway to Voyageur's National Park

Woods: This property has 2 acres of woods with old red and white pine stands sheltering their baby trees that are regenerating everywhere. The nature walk along the shoreline through the trees has a cleansing effect on me, and I hope you can feel that too.

Water: The lake is famous for great fishing and our location is on the map - you can just walk out into the water with waders or fish from the dock. Pro bass fishermen were photographed along our shore, so its good. We also have a great all-around boat for rent if you'd like to get out on the lake for cruising, tubing or fishing. We have a two person canoe for our guests to use freely as well.

West-facing: Pelican Lake is over 11,000 acres and we are situated on the east side of the lake facing west out into its vast beauty. There are three islands in view and it's just gorgeous. The fire pit is down by the water where you can relax and watch the setting sun trade places with all the colors of the famous "pelican skies."

Voyageur's National Park, Minnesota's only, is a 30 minute drive to Crane Lake. Alternatively, drive north about the same distance to access it from Kabetogama. The park is all water, so you will need a boat or to rent one, ours stays on Pelican. But it is truly beautiful untouched northern forest and big water up there.

If you need a few amenities? No problem, Orr is less than 10 minutes away where you can find a grocery store, post office, restaurants, liquor and hardware store. For a few more amenities, Cook is a 25 minute drive.

There are great local hiking trails, waterfalls, outlooks and the Vince Shute Bear reserve should not be missed.

There is a train that passes over a mile away and you can hear it. We actually like it but there is that sound factor. We also have a friendly local dog that swings by to see if we are around, Lenny. Just an FYI for pets and kids.

What makes this property unique

Updated master bedroom and ensuite. Fun mid-mod styling, large kitchen for cooking and staying in, private boat rental.
