About this property

Deer Brook Cabin w/ Hot Tub, Fireplace & Brook

Our Hidden Brook Cabin in the White Mountains is the perfect rustic retreat! Features a cozy wood burning fireplace for snuggling up on cold winter nights and a private outdoor deck and 3 season porch, great for listen to the babbling brook that passes right by the cabin. Very comfortable for couples or small families, close to the best hiking in the East, lakes, amazing ski resorts (Loon, Cannon & Bretton Woods), craft breweries, coffee shops, restaurants of every kind and sightseeing! This cabin is perfect for couples or small families seeking a private spot to enjoy nature. Full kitchen, bathroom with shower, three well appointed bedrooms, and fireplace. The cabin is situated off Rte. 112 (Kancamagus Highway) down a lengthy private driveway to a rustic cabin on a babbling brook that feeds the Wild Ammonoosuc River. This cabin is located in the town of Bath, close to great gold panning on the river, as well as the Big & Little Eddy for swimming. The cabin offers TV, DVD player with many titles, wifi, books and vintage games. Get truly unplugged and remember what it used to be like to relax. There is no cell phone reception, however you may be able to dial using the wifi. The wifi at this cabin is satellite wifi so it is good for surfing the internet, but latency issues will make zoom calls more challenging. The cabin's well water is not potable (drinkable) and should not be used for drinking or cooking. Please bring bottled water for this purpose. The cabin is within walking distance of the Swiftwater Way Station and only 5 minutes to Woodsville (Shaws, Walmart, Job Lot & Resturants). We are available, by phone or text as needed, but the guests will have the entire cabin to enjoy themselves. You need a car to get around, and AWD is advisable in the winter. The area, including the driveway, is quite hilly. Don't come up in the winter on bald tires! Studs are recommended for the driveway in the winter.

Second time was better than the first
We came in May of 2023 for 2 nights. That wasn't long enough so we stayed for 3 nights this time and recommend longer. We brought our 2 small dogs and they had a great time. Just looking at dates to come back on the fall

Perfect getaway cabin
Perfect little getaway. Hot tub was amazing, as well as the fire pit for s’mores and a relaxing vibe. The directions and guide were very clear and thorough, as well as the hosts being helpful and responding. The location was beautiful and made for great scenery. They had everything we needed to cook meals, and I loved the open window above the bed to hear the water before bed. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Good and the Bad
The cabin was very clean and very nice. Going by other reviews too I think maybe it just wasn’t the getaway we needed at the time? I found the furniture uncomfortable (bed was nice and fluffy, more just the couch and the chairs on the porch). And through no fault of the owners, I did end up having a bit of a stomach thing, and with a weak septic system I was afraid to ruin the place lol. Plus I just wanted a hot shower and we couldn’t get the water to be above freezing. I also had to double check because the listing says pet friendly and just a weight limit, but when I received the house manual the week of the trip (after I fully paid) it specified non shedding dogs and no dogs on the furniture, I definitely wish it would’ve said that more clearly in the description. They do say the Wi-Fi is satellite, but I didn’t really realize how bad streaming shows would be, so if you can - try to bring dvds. We ended up leaving a day early because we just couldn’t get comfortable. I think maybe if we had more planned and just used the cabin to rest it would’ve been better, but I was looking to just stay put and turn off my brain for a few days and unfortunately just couldn’t settle in
