The Mahogany Estate’s unique selling point is its position high on a hilltop with spectacular 360-degree views. From the first floor wrap-around balcony to the north you can see pool and gardens, forest, the town of Plymouth and the blue Caribbean; to the east, the mountains of the Main Ridge stretching far away into the haze; southwards, a tree-clad valley and finally, to the west, views of the Lowlands and, on a clear day, distant Trinidad.
Inside this lovely house there are all possible comforts and security features. The interior has been fully modernised and decorated with super-comfortable ensuite bedrooms (especially the majestic one occupying the whole of the upper floor) and a vast airy living area and kitchen downstairs. Outside there is a beautifully appointed breezy verandah and, down the grand staircase to the garden, a pool.
Throughout the building there is hi-speed Wi-Fi we can only dream of at home, a vast TV with everything available on it, washing machine and drier, and a dishwasher. Most of the above also applies to the magical little self-contained cottage in the garden which sleeps another two.
Considering its position at this more populous end of Tobago, the property surprised us with a considerable number of bird species easily photographable, and endlessly watchable. We counted thirty-three over a seven-day period, including raptors and hummingbirds.
I cannot recommend the Mahogany Estate too highly.
