This is a popular spot for watching wildlife, such as the annual Sandhill crane migration. You can explore Ash Hollow State Park and view the Oregon Trail, or you can wander down the banks of the North Platte River.

This quiet town is located 12 miles from the campgrounds and beaches on the west end of Lake McConaughy and 26 miles from the dam and east end campgrounds. Ash Hollow State park is just 5 miles south of town.

Nice little place

We only stayed one night but uad everything we needed. Well stocked with furnishings in the kitchen and a bunch of family friendly games. Plenty of space for a few adults and some pups.

Good lake house rental

I’ve stayed in a few rentals in Lewellen and this one was a pleasant surprise. It was 100 degrees while we were there and it was so nice to come back from the lake to an air conditioned house where the AC worked well at cooling the house. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms and family room were great to have as well. The queen beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with what we needed to cook a meal. The Wi-Fi, working tv and games were great to have as well. We had a nice stay! Thank you!

The house was perfect for our visit to see the sandhill cranes. Everything was spotless, and the kitchen was stocked with everything that anyone would ever need. All the bathroom amminities were also provided, as well as plenty of extra blankets. Proximity to the old bridge was a bonus for excellent crane viewing. We would definitely stay here again.
