We rented this property for the Thanksgiving holiday. Unfortunately, this home is not as advertised. The home is in serious disrepair and was very dirty. We spent more than 4 hours cleaning just to feel comfortable enough to stay there. The owner refunded part of the cleaning fee, and he only offered to send his wife over to clean. We spent approximately $100 on cleaning supplies and had to borrow a vacuum cleaner from family who lived close by.
There are several code violations in this home to include electric outlets in both bathrooms are inoperative. The dishwasher has a sign inside it that says it does not work and the smell was horrific! The refrigerator has mildew on the rubber seals on both doors, and the kitchen did not have enough supplies (no kitchen towels and very little silverware) to cook with. We had to purchase paper plates and silverware. The bathrooms only had two towels (very thin) per bathroom and a few washcloths. There were not enough pillowcases for the pillows. The floors had not been vacuumed or mopped in months.
Renters renting through VRBO should be aware that they do not represent the renter - they represent the owner even though renters pay a fee to them when booking. We contacted VRBO to request a refund and go to a hotel, but they said it was up to the owner not VRBO. Additionally, the owner told us to take it up with VRBO,
We rent several homes a year and this was by far the worst property that we have ever rented.
