About this property
NEAR YOSEMITE: Bass Lake Cabin: Hot Tub, Lake View, Pet Friendly
Spring is lovely, green, peaceful and uncrowded at Bass Lake. Yosemite has a special beauty, amazing waterfalls and no crowds.
It's going to be a great summer at the lake....book now!
Our cabin is a cozy and serene place to vacation, just a short drive from the Bay Area and the Central Valley. The hot tub at night under the stars is a favorite of all our guests.
We can also be your "home office" for working remotely, with fast wifi for those Zoom meetings and a couple of separate work areas in the house.
YOSEMITE PARK AND BASS LAKE ARE STILL AN AMAZING AND AFFORDABLE VACATION COMBINATION! OUR WHOLE CABIN COSTS LESS THAN ONE HOTEL ROOM AT YOSEMITE.
Now booking for Summer, 2026. The lake should be very full!
'We had such a wonderful time at your cabin. It was such a wonderful change from a boring hotel room' (Todd B.- recent guest)
This is a charming and comfortable cabin at Bass Lake that is quite secluded on a small hill overlooking the lake. There is one master bedroom and full bath with a California King bed and a TV. The second bedroom is small, with a bunk bed that is twin-sized on top and full-sized on the bottom. (note: there is not a lot of headroom above the top bunk). This bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. The living room has a queen-sized Ikea sofa bed (comfy!) and a large smart TV with DVD player. The modern kitchen has a nook that sits 4-6. There is an adjacent library/den area with a table that can be used for dining, game playing, puzzles, crafts, working at your laptop, etc. There is also a desk in the master bedroom. The wifi is fast....good for working remotely, Zoom calls, streaming, etc.
There is a hot tub on the deck that overlooks the lake. The hot tub is especially wonderful at night when all is quiet and the stars are bright. There is a patio table (with umbrella) which is the perfect spot for eating all meals, game-playing, relaxing with a glass of wine, etc. You will definitely spend a lot of time on the deck overlooking the hillside and lake. To the side of the house is a semi- enclosed yard area (not "safe" for pets to be left alone)with a concrete patio and a basketball hoop. Children love to play in this side-yard area (although young children must always be supervised) It is a 7-minute walk to the lake. The Falls beach area is less than a mile down the road. In the other direction, there are many public beaches within walking distance or just a short drive...just choose one that fits your fancy. If you have young children, the beaches closest to our cabin have lots of shallow areas that are perfect for children to play safely in. The water is a great temperature for swimming during the summer. The Pines Village is 2 miles down the road. There you'll find The Pines grocery store, a gas station, a few restaurants and shops to browse in. There are boat and other rentals available on both sides of the lake as well as a couple of amazing burger, sandwich and ice-cream places (Millers Landing and The Forks).
Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers in both bedrooms! Sleep like a dream!
New: high chair, Pak'N'Play and baby toys! Save yourself the hassle of packing this essential baby gear!
The town of Oakhurst is just 8 miles away and has a wide variety of restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, bowling, etc. There is also good golf, hiking and fishing nearby. And of course, Yosemite is just up the road! It's a 20 minute drive to the southern entrance to Yosemite (and the Mariposa Grove) and then another 40-60 minutes down into Yosemite Valley. Day trips into Yosemite are very easy to do....then come back to soak in the hot tub at night!
This cabin is a perfect retreat for couples who want a quiet get-away. Families love it too! In the winter, the lake level is down quite a bit. There is snow a few times a year but not regularly. There is usually snow just up the road towards Yosemite, and there are a few snow play areas before you get to the gates of Yosemite, near Fish Camp. There is skiing and snowboarding and snowshoe-ing at Badger Pass inside Yosemite; it's a great family snow play resort.
The house is primarily heated by an efficient wood stove in the living room. The fire will be all ready for you to light a match to once you arrive. It heats the house up fairly quickly, usually within 30 minutes. We provide plenty of firewood on the rack outside the back door. You can set the fire on “low” by moving the lever at the bottom of the stove to the right. This allows less air in, and it will burn slowly. Pile it up with wood during the night, set it on low, and it should stay warm all night long. The wood stove is a desirable feature for most guests **HOWEVER, If you don't want to deal with a wood stove, this cabin may not be your best option.
We are pet-friendly and have hosted many happy pooches, but we must approve your pet before final booking. Please let us know the breed, weight and age of your pet. We'll send a pet addendum for you to read and agree to. Depending upon the number of pets and length of stay, the pet fee is $65-$85. This is a separate and additional fee that will be added to your charges.

Had a wonderful stay, cabin was cozy and very comfortable! They have a lot in case you forget anything be it activities, spices, books, games, very grateful. We went to Yosemite Park each day. We went in January so a lot of things were closed due to winter so be prepared. More trails were closed than we hoped but wonderful views where we did go.

So glad that you enjoyed your winter stay and that you found the cabin well-supplied. Please come again!
Wendy was incredibly attentive throughout our stay and consistently checked in to make sure we were comfortable. She responded quickly to any questions and truly went above and beyond. We appreciated her hospitality and would gladly stay here again
Thé hot tub was nice it did get cooler as time went on. It was a beautiful cabin with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. We had a wonderful time and would stay again. The only issue was the visit was too short

So glad that you loved your stay. Re: the hot tub. It may have accidentally been changed to an “economy” setting. We could have changed that had we known. Glad it didn’t affect your enjoyment.
This was a wonderful stay in a nice and cozy establishment. It had plenty of space in the bedrooms, kitchen and it even had laundry room. The back yard was spacious with plenty of room of activities. One of the best features was the hot tube that we used every night and you even have a spectacular view of the lake. I highly recommend the stay here!

Lots of dos and don'ts. Kinda felt like I was a college kid moving back in and my parents were laying down the house rules.

Thank you for your input. The County of Madera has recently added requirements for signage regarding safety issues. In addition, we have our own suggestions and instructions. Guests have indicated that they appreciate clear instructions.
We had a wonderful time. Kids loved the basketball hoop and the adults appreciated the comfortable beds, the view of the lake from the kitchen window and the deck, and the welcoming feel of the place. We also really appreciated all of the advice on local restaurants, beaches, etc and the free Yosemite guide. Thanks Wendy!
We had an EXCELLENT time at this cabin!! It was so close to the lake and was conveniently located only a few minutes’ drive to restaurants and resorts that made the lake visit so much fun!The absolute only thing we worried about was the steep gravel driveway that we had to drive up in order to get to the house. Our small rental car sometimes slid if we weren’t extremely careful driving downhill (especially at night). A truck or a 4WD might make some feel more secure. But it really didn’t impact our stay, or deter us from coming and going from the property. It was a great place to stay and we had a wonderful time!

We're so glad that you had an excellent time at our cabin. Guests have been having a wonderful summer. The driveway is usually only a concern if temperatures are icy; in those cases we check to make sure that guests have AWD vehicles. Thanks for taking the time to write your wonderful review!
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin, many places to go day camp by the lake, and millers landing was our go to spot for drinks and food. Overall a beautiful and wonderful place to stay.

We're so glad that you had a wonderful time at the cabin! Miller's is definitely our "go-to" spot for great food, ice cream, drinks and beautiful scenery.
Wendy was great to work with before and during our stay. The house was perfect for our trip to Yosemite. It was nice to be on the lake and convenient to the park. There were great restaurants close by and we loved going to the lake as well!
Cabin was close to the lake and had a beautiful view. Clean and had everything we needed. Perfect stay.

We are a couple in our late 60's from the San Francisco Bay Area. Bass Lake is a 4-hour drive from our home. We bought our cabin 17 years ago while taking an anniversary trip to a Bed and Breakfast in the area. We stopped by a realtor's office for a casual chat, found out that this little home had just become available for sale and hadn't yet been listed, went over to take a look, and made an offer to buy it! Thus, we returned from our anniversary weekend as first-time cabin owners. We have traveled throughout France and stayed at many wonderful bed-and-breakfasts; we'd love for our French friends to enjoy our cabin while visiting America,
Why they chose this property
We love the peace and beauty of the mountain area. Although we have a boat, we find that we prefer the area when it's less crowded and we can hike and relax. My husband is a photographer, a la Ansel Adams, so there are limitless possibilities for his passion.
What makes this property unique
The hot tub under the starry sky soothes many harried souls. The lake is beautiful from all directions, whether you're on it or biking or walking around it. Burgers and sandwiches at Millers Landing must not be missed. A romantic dinner at Duceys is worth every penny. Cuddling in the cabin living room by the fire with a good DVD and a good local wine or hot cocoa is enjoyable, no matter what the weather is doing outside.
