Great laundry set up. Large bedrooms. Nice TV’s. Very roomy and well furnished. Could use a better dining table set up. The pub table in the kitchen is not comfortable for older people. They did have very comfortable fold up outdoor chairs and a fold out table for extra seating at mealtime.

Holidays in Waseca

We’ve stayed at this property before, and it’s always very clean, well stocked, and we are always very comfortable. The owner Mike is great to work with and responds to any questions immediately. Holiday travels can be exhausting and it’s so nice to have this property as our Oasis when visiting MN.

Local Memorial

We come to town every year for a memorial event for my fallen friend and brother-in-arms, and this secluded and calm location was an ideal spot to unwind and decompress from the highs and lows of such an event. A serene and comfortable spot for any small family.

Nice quiet vacation

We enjoyed our stay in Waseca. Cool unique property. Nice accomodations with full kitchen. Cute quiet town with many things to do near by in town (and within hour drive). Would definitely recommend local Mexican 🌮 restaurant El Molino on the main street. Beautiful lakes and walking trails. Would stay again. 🙂

Worked well to split drive time between friends. Nicely redone, clean, and space so we were able to hang out. Walking path near lake was great little walk & watched the sunset. Host was great to work with, would be fun to stay at in summer.

Stay in an old flour mill!

This is a fun and unique lodging option! The apartment is built into a one hundred and fifty year old flour mill. It is a newly built unit with nice appliances. It is well equipped and located next to Loon Lake and a bike trail. Many restaurants and taverns are only a few blocks away and easily walkable. With the supplied fire pit and wood you can enjoy a fire on the patio while watching the sun set over the lake. You should definitely consider it while staying in the Waseca area!

Christmas Oasis

After traveling 10 hours and visiting multiple family members from Iowa to MN, we arrived at the property. My husband flipped on the TV flopped down on the sofa and said, “This is way better than a hotel!” The property owner Mike is always great to work with, the cleanliness of the property is always spotless. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensil's needed for holiday cooking. The location is beautiful, and unique. We will definitely be back!

Nice place to stay in Waseca near the Doodlebug walking trail and Loon Lake. Responsive hosts. Vacation rental is located in one portion of the first floor of a renovated historic grain storage building (part of the historic EACO mill site), so the outer walls are very thick. This means it is a quiet indoor space when windows are closed. Two bedrooms and a cozy kitchen with quiet dishwasher, nice fridge/freezer, and great stove with versatile gas range.Great for visiting family in town or a quiet getaway for remote work or vacation.Location is also a short walking distance to downtown (places to eat and shop), the library, Trowbridge park, the hospital, the courthouse and veterans memorial, and Loon Lake park. It is also about 2 blocks to a Kwik Trip for an easy quick grocery trip or a variety of groceries from Walmart is a short drive. Farmers’ Market is Saturdays at the fairgrounds (a short drive).Loon Lake is a shallow lake with lots of birds in summer. Calm lake for kayaking and bird watching.Birds we saw on the lake included American white pelicans (many, nesting on the island), black (or double-crested?) cormorants, great egrets, Canadian geese (& goslings), blue heron, and wood duck.Other birds nearby we saw included northern cardinal, hairy woodpecker, goldfinch, crow, purple martin, grackle, turkey vulture, chickadee, chimney swifts & a Cooper hawk family.Recommend stopping by the library, which is a hub for local info and events.
Sunset from the rental property. Wood ducks swimming by.
Sunset view from property, zoom lens to see the pelican swimming on the lake
Family of Canadian geese on lake near Loon Lake park dock.

looks are deceptive

It worked out very well for us. If I had not seen pictures of the property, I never would recognize it as a place to stay. No signs or any indicators of what it was. Not the normal look of an apartment on the outside but very nice and comfortable on the inside. So, yea, very close to things downtown and even across town. We walked to the Fair grounds for the Farmers Market and school garage sale. Then we walked out to Clear Lake and made a lap all around it and back to the apartment. Owner or someone provided outstanding weather, lots of sun, mild temperatures and no rain. We will be going back

Truly wonderful!

We stayed at the Brick & Vine for a week when we moved to Waseca while we were waiting for our closing, and for belongings to be delivered, and it was truly wonderful! Can't wait to see the property when everything is in bloom. We had a trailer with us and there was plenty of room to turn around and park on the concrete pad, and the seclusion was nice as your vehicle(s) are mostly hidden from the road.Arrival and entry was simple, the property was immediately comfortable and cozy. The updated kitchen and included washer/dryer were beyond amazing to have for the entire week while moving from out of state. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable, though were definitely a little warmer when the heat was on; be sure to bump the thermostat down a few degrees when you head to bed if you don't like to sleep hot. Modern TVs in each room, which we logged in to and installed the apps we use.Our 3.5yo enjoyed the stay as well as there was plenty of room, and the States puzzle was a big hit!The only downside was the water pressure. The shower was decent, and my wife said it was enough to wash her hair, but if the washing machine or dishwasher is running, the pressure is reduced drastically. Even after flushing the toilet the drop in pressure while washing your hands is quite noticeable while the tank refills. Also, the water in the kitchen took a minute or longer to get hot in the winter, but the temperature was certainly not an issue once it got hot.Thank you!

Short Get-A-Way

Unique!! Very nice 2-bedroom unit housed in an old brick mill. Very quiet. Very clean and well kept. Everything is as shown on the website. Neat town with a paved hiking trail right next to the property. Loon Lake next to property with larger Clear Lake about a mile away with hiking trails around both. Several great restaurants nearby. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.

Great Place to Stay

Loved it!!! Nice having trail at lake for morning walks. Lots of space with full kitchen. Spacious separate bedrooms with washer and dryer a plus. It was clean and inviting. Walking distance to great shops in downtown. The owners were so nice, friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend others to stay as well. Thanks Mike!

Perfect fit!

We needed something that was halfway between Owatonna and Mankato, and could work for a family with two busy boys. This fit the bill perfectly. Other than the Keurig machine not working (which was easily fixed by visiting a local cafe), the stay was great. We didn’t communicate with the hosts until our trip was over about the coffee machine, but they responded in a timely fashion. My only complaints are that several of the dishes in the kitchen were dirty (easy fix thanks to the dishwasher), there were no ice trays provided, and the lake right across the bike path had algae that made it unsafe to use (out of the hosts’ control).

About the host

Hosted by Mike Denn

Host profile image
Native to Waseca, Mike & Mark spent many years looking at purchasing a unique property to invest in the future of their home town. They found this amazing property with historical significance on the east bank of Loon Lake. It was an added bonus that there was a residential space established in the old 1870 Historic Brick and Timber building. It just needed a bit of vision & creativity to bring it to a place, where many can now enjoy.

Why they chose this property

3 acres, in town. Next to a peaceful lake, (electric motors only).
Walking and biking trails nearby. Close proximity (walking distance) to many restaurants, brewery & entertainment venues.

What makes this property unique

Currently, this is the only Rental Suite available on this large property.
The large 1200 sf suite was constructed inside a very large, quiet building, due to having 1 foot deep brick walls.
This property also has over 150 feet of undisturbed lakeshore.
