Unsafe
I am a 76 year old widow who travels with a small dog. The park which is located very close to place of stay had homeless people sleeping in the park. Felt very unsafe. One afternoon while walking home I had a homeless person approach me. Would NOT recommend location to anyone. The person who helped me check in was WONDERFUL and very HELPFUL. It is unfortunate that the park situation made me feel unsafe.

Great spot!
Husband and I stayed for a week! The place was affordable and located in a quiet area of town. Close to the Kroger, and a park, it was perfect for us and our dogs and there was always free parking available. The management team was quick to respond to any of our needs. The only complaint we had was that the couch was rather uncomfortable to sit on, but it was a pull out bed so that’s to be expected.

Excellent stay
The home was clean and had everything we needed for a short weekend stay. We could easily walk to Forsyth Park and Collins Quarter where we had an amazing meal. The host sent instructions in a timely manner and we did not have any complaints. The place is a bit smaller than it looks in the pictures but it is nice and clean.

I would not stay long
House is not like the pictures. For what we paid, they should maintain it better. Porch is dirty and can't be used. No closet or dresser in one bedroom. Beds have no boxspring, only mattress, not comfortable. All doors are uneven and don't shut properly. Washer and dryer do not work. I did not get the code to the house until after 4. You cannot enter a minute before 4 but must be out by 11. Older furniture and lots of things need maintaining better. Not worth the price. Would only stay a short while.

Bestie getaway weekend
My best friend and I met up in Savannah and rented this VRBO for the weekend. We have stayed in hotels in the past, but we will definitely be renting this VRBO from now on! It was so nice having our own house with a kitchen and laundry and the place is great with lots of space. The only downside is it’s not in walking distance to Plant Riverside, but it’s very easy to get Uber or Lyft to pick you up right outside your front door and get you there for $10 or less. Well worth it! Highly recommend!

upstairs apartment on busy street
The good: This was a comfortable apartment and served for a base for exploring Savannah. It's certainly walkable to downtown (over a mile) but we always asked the locals about walking at night and everyone said not to in this neighborhood so we ended up Uber/Lyft at night. If you stay bring earplugs. Henry street is very busy, all hours of the night. The beds are super comfortable, the sofas are in dire need of replacement. Our biggest complaint was the bathroom door. Honestly, this just needs to be repaired. An inexpensive locking device to lock you in as the door swings wide open if not used and frustrating to unlock from the inside. Communication with the owners was easy and quick. Overall would not stay again for this price/location/ammenities

Great place to stay
I stayed here for 4 nights with my girlfriend and brother, and it was absolutely perfect. The location is a little far from downtown, but it is a quick easy drive and there is free street parking right out front. The area is a safe area and right near forsyth and some good local places as well if you’re looking for a true savannah stay and not just in the heart of all the noise of downtown. The stay was in the upstairs section of a 2 story house, but there are separate entrances for the two units. The space was really nice with two bedrooms separated by a living room with a small kitchen and bathroom. The only complaint I would have is that the bathroom door would swing open if you didn’t lock it and the front door was a little confusing (it was an automatic lock, but we had to test it out just to be safe and make sure that it was locked as it didn’t really indicate that it automatically locked), but other than that it was great! The backyard wasn’t accessible to us as the only entrance to it was through the bottom unit, but we didn’t really mind as we were out most of the day anyways. The walls are a little thin, because it is an older house, but we truly didn’t hear the downstairs neighbors that much. The only thing we really heard was the squirrels playing on one of the trees located next to the house as they jumped back and forth from the tree to the roof. The beds were super comfy, the area was really nice and the stay was great. The host had everything we needed in the house, with dishes, utensils, cookware, bedding, etc. all included. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone interested in staying in midtown savannah!

Fantastic place!
We had a wonderful time at this property. Really enjoyed how it was in close proximity to everything. We parked and walked to the parks and restaurants. However we did choose to drive at night. It's very safe and we felt safe. The only thing I could point out if I just had to say a negative it would be one of the rooms did not have a tv in it. This was not a big deal to us. We will definitely recommend and will look forward to staying again when coming to the area!

Hello!

We're Starland Stays, and we're committed to providing you with the best possible VRBO experience. We're a team of locals who wanted to find a way to share Savannah - our home - to visitors around the globe.

Our listings are primarily in The Starland District here in Savannah, which was dreamed up by two SCAD graduates in the early 1990's. They imagined an artsy, lively neighborhood with a sense of community for the locals and a unique Savannah charm to lure visitors, and they’ve succeeded. Now, The Starland District is home to dozens of small businesses, cafes, breweries, and so much more! This is where all the cool locals hang - we hope you love it as much as we do!

-The Starland Stays Team

Why they chose this property

This home is in the heart of Savannah's Victorian District, a diverse neighborhood, centrally located between the well-known National Landmark Historic District, and the up-and-coming, fashionable Starland District.

The Victorian District's short city blocks, and vibrant mix of people, architecture, restaurants, and parks make it one of Savannah's most walkable neighborhoods. Known for its architectural beauty and charm, this downtown neighborhood was developed in the second half of the 19th century as a streetcar suburb of the original city and is studded with two- and three-story houses as ornate as wedding cakes.

You’re just minutes away from all the activities this walkable city has to offer. Stroll through Savannah’s famous Forsyth Park and Chippewa Square (where Forrest Gump was filmed) on your way to River Street (less than two miles away) to enjoy restaurants, pubs, and even a haunted trolley tour. Visit one of the many museums or stroll through any of the 22 downtown squares to learn about the city's heritage.

Tybee Island is the nearest beach destination and is only 18 miles away.

What makes this property unique

Built in 1903, this lovely, 120-year-old 2-story duplex home is architecturally and historically significant as a good, simple example of the Carpenter Italianate, an architectural style popularized post 1900, that loses the brackets and much of the gingerbread ornamentation of the previous “wedding cake” style of the earlier Victorian-era homes.
