Welcome to Blue Ridge Basecamp! Immerse yourself in nature while standing on top of the world at our secluded, cozy cabin retreat in the stunning western NC mountains! Take in the endless mountain views from our massive covered deck while planning the day's adventures- or doing nothing at all.
Cozy up by the fire with a glass of wine or a mug of hot cocoa, play games with the kids, stream a movie on the 58" smart TV, or prepare a gourmet meal in the fully-equipped kitchen or on the bbq grill. Simply leave your cares behind!
The space
Imagine waking up to a stunning sunrise, the sun painting the sky pink and purple as you sip your coffee and breathe in the crisp mountain air. Gaze off to the endless mountain ridges and watch the clouds sink down into the valley below, the birds cheerfully singing all around you. There's no hurry to be anywhere; the only thing on your to-do list is to relax and leave the world behind.
Our cozy 4-bedroom, 3-bath mountain cabin is located at an altitude of approximately 4500 feet in the gated community of Wolf Laurel, about 40 minutes north of Asheville, NC. Our home sits on 2 private wooded acres and is nestled down a quiet gravel road.
While you'll feel very secluded up on top of the mountain, you'll be less than 10 minutes away from lots of fun activities, including skiing and snowboarding at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort and horseback riding at Bucktown Stables. There are a variety of hiking trails close by, including the famous 2190-mile Appalachian Trail that literally runs right through the neighborhood!
Take a day trip to Asheville to enjoy the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, amazing farm-to-table restaurants, countless microbreweries, shopping, and art galleries. Kayak or SUP the French Broad River, take in some live music at the Orange Peel or the Asheville Music Hall, or tour the French Broad Chocolate Factory.
Guest access
Guests have full access to our home (with the exception of two small owners' closets).
Other things to note
***PARKING/DRIVEWAY***
We have a fairly steep, gravel and concrete driveway (see photo!). It is a pull-through style driveway that has two entrances from the street, and dips down in the middle to the front door of the house.
IMPORTANT: We can accommodate a maximum of two 2WD cars, but you will need to park them at either end/tops of the driveway and walk about 15 yards down to the front door. Parking 2WD cars at the bottom of the driveway is not recommended - you may get stuck and/or damage the driveway, and we are not responsible for helping you get unstuck. One 4WD car may park at the bottom/middle of the driveway adjacent to the front door. Parking is not permitted on the street.
***LIVING WITH NATURE***
We are very fortunate that our mountain home is surrounded by nature - from the family of deer that lives on the property to the incredible starry nights, our guests get to experience the very best that nature has to offer! However, keep in mind there are a variety of critters that call our neighborhood home. While we have a fabulous cleaning team and we make every effort to keep critters away, we cannot guarantee that they won't occasionally make an appearance. You can help keep them away by making sure crumbs and spills are cleaned up promptly, and any trash placed outside is locked in the designated trash cans.
***SECURITY CAMERAS***
We have one security camera facing the driveway and one facing the trash cans on the deck. These are primarily to monitor bear/wildlife activity and potential snow. They only record when motion is detected or when we check to see if wildlife has gotten into trash or the driveway needs to be plowed. Please do not touch, tamper with, or cover cameras.
