Sunset Shanti - artist's oasis with sunset view

Sunset Shanti is located in Chocolate Hole Bay, about 5 minutes outside of Cruz Bay, the main downtown area of St. John (also where you'll arrive either by ferry or car barge). Chocolate Hole offers proximity to town (and all its benefits, including markets, restaurants, shops, etc.), while its distance simultaneously allows for a quiet escape. We're biased of course, but we think Chocolate Hole is the perfect balance for a tranquil, relaxing getaway, while maintaining the ease that closeness to town provides.

We recommend renting a car, as both the house and the rest of the island are most easily accessed with your own transportation. While taxi services (in the form of open-air safaris) are available, they can be somewhat tricky to navigate. Securing your own transportation prior to arrival ensures that you're putting yourself in the best position to make the most out of your stay on St. John. We recommend booking your rental car well in advance whenever possible, as rental cars on the island do tend to book out. If you have trouble securing a rental car on St. John, we recommend looking into cars on St. Thomas as well, then riding across on the car barge (rather than the people ferry).
