About this property
Sun-filled, 1BR guest suite w pool (downtown)
Southern charm is in abundance in this c. 1799 home! This sun-filled, artfully restored space is a private, "in-law" suite adjacent to a sprawling southern Estate.
You'll enjoy a private entrance, huge living area / queen bed, large dressing room with "his and hers" vanities, modern bathroom with walk-in shower and oversized tub, access to gorgeous pool, and sprawling verandas.
The space is mere blocks from all that quintessential historic Hillsborough has to offer, and is a rare treasure!
The space
Enjoy this gorgeously renovated historic gem! The heart pine floors (some ~20" wide!) hail from the early 1800s, while the large windows give the room a sunny glow. High ceilings and crown molding take you back in time, all the while modern amenities make your stay uber-comfortable.
The Guest-Suite is adjacent to a Southern estate, built in 1799. The grounds are situated on 2-acres, mere blocks from the center of historic Hillsborough and the home is rich in history.
The property was originally owned by James Hogg, an 18th century businessman and one of the founders of the nearby University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The original house, consisting of five rooms in the eastern portion of the house, is believed to have been built in the late 1790’s. It was later enlarged in 1853 in “the most modern fancy style” according to the Hillsborough Recorder, and the western portion, the central tower and the large porches were added to create a what the architect believed looked like a picturesque Italian villa style.
Guest access
Guests can access their beautiful, private Guest Suite via their own door to the left of the main house. Within the space, they will find a living area + TV plus queen bed, spacious separate dressing room / powder room with "his and hers" vanities, 2 walk-in closets, and artfully renovated bathroom with walk-in shower and oversized tub. Guests will also enjoy a small kitchenette, complete with coffee maker, complimentary coffee / tea / water, and mini-fridge (plus wine glasses for celebratory occasions).
Guests will have access to the gorgeous pool, and can sip coffee on the sprawling wrap-around verandas.
If venturing off the two-acre grounds, guests can stroll 2 blocks to the shops / eateries / cafes in the quaint and picturesque historic downtown area.
