Perfect location central to Montrose, Black Canyon, and Curecanti. We had everything we needed and the view from the guest house was incredible. San Juans to the south, and Red Rock Canyon to the north.

Serene location close to black canyon

Perfect stay close to town and Black Canyon National Park. Some horses and minis on property, we said hi to them in the morning.Night sky was very dark, close to official dark sky area and we were able to get awesome views of milky way with no telescope. Hopefully you can be there on a clear night.

Digital detox

No wifi and limited service were what the doctor ordered, and the easy access to Black Canyon can't be beat! Gary and LaurieAnn (and their dogs!) were lovely - they live across the driveway from the cabin. The property was far enough from town to feel private, yet close enough to town (and the park) to be easy to access amenities. There is a long gravel road which we were worried might be an issue with a rental car - but it was well maintained and not an issue at all. If we find ourselves back in the area, we will return!

Home on the Ranch

Fabulous place. Wonderful stay. We were looking for some quiet time off the grid and this place fit the bill perfectly. Best part was how close it is to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Great cabin near Black Canyon National Park

This cabin was a great location near Black Canyon National Park and shopping in nearby Montrose. The cabin was spacious and well stocked. The hosts were very friendly. It was fun staying on the ranch and seeing the horses.

Black Canyon hiking

Lovely property. Quaint and Rustic, but this was evident in listing. Doug was an absolute pleasure. Wi-if and streaming of tv not reliable/almost non existent . But this was mentioned in prior reviews.

Peaceful cabin - exactly what we were expecting!

Gary and Laurieann were gracious hosts. We absolutely loved staying at the cabin on their property. The cabin was exactly as described and perfect for my husband and me. We enjoyed watching the elk across the pasture from the cabin in the late evening as well as visiting the horses on the property. Gary provided us a wealth of information on things to do in the area and the proximity to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park was awesome as it was no more than 15 minutes away. The short 20 minute drive to Montrose for dinner was very nice with lots of dining options. Thank you so much for sharing this piece of heaven with us!! We’re already looking forward to returning.

Peaceful Setting Near Lots of Outdoor Fun

My husband and I rented this property for a one week vacation, mostly to get a break from the city. The property is immaculately clean and was the perfect size for my husband and I. It has all the amenities we wanted including an air conditioner in the bedroom space. I really appreciated the AC because the weather was hot and sunny for most of our stay. Gary and Loriann were warm and friendly hosts. My favorite thing about this property is the horses! There are 10+ horses on the property plus ponies plus a baby calf. I loved walking around the property each day and saying hi to the horses, patting their noses and giving them baby carrots. The horses are some of the most gentle, friendly ones I've met. You can also arrange to go horseback riding with a guide through beautiful BLM property. There are lots of trails within 20 minutes of the property including the Black Canyon National Park which is absolutely amazing and much less crowded than many national parks. Great place to go to get a break from the crowds, traffic, and hustle of the city.

One of the most beautiful locations we’ve stayed!

I’ll sound like a broken record. The owners of this property are amazing. Very very cool people. The lodging is slightly larger than a tiny house. Completely outfitted so you don’t have to bring much but your food. The horses nearby added to the atmosphere big time. Extremely close to the black Canyon entrance. Very close to Montrose in the event you forgot something. The nights are completely silent and almost pitch black. It doesn’t get any more tranquil. We’ll be back.

Convenient to Gunnison

We enjoyed our stay overall. Gary was extremely welcoming and the farm setting was restful. Short Drive to the park made it convenient. This place is not made for tall folks. Gary made us aware upon arrival that the ceiling was low at the top of the steps. It took us a few whacks to get used to the slope of the ceiling at the staircase and over the second bed. We also were without a hairdryer. When I asked if I was overlooking it, Gary said someone had taken it and it had not been replaced. I left behind a thermos and Gary was kind enough to ship it back to us, which we really appreciated.

Great place to unwind

Out in the boonies but not hard to find. The quiet was priceless. The horses and mini horses were a bonus. Watched deer and listened to coyotes. Our host offered good day trip suggestions that were appreciated. You do have to climb stairs to sleep and no wifi. We would come again if we go this way. Thank you Gary and LaurieAnn!

Tranquil Ranch With Kind Hosts

We were only here for two nights, but wish we could've stayed longer and hope to visit again! Gary and Laurie Ann were very communicative and welcoming. The property boasts stunning views and the cabin is cozy & comfortable. My partner and I were visiting the area to hike the Blue Lakes trail near ridgeway, but will definitely be planning a longer stay to explore more of the surrounding areas and the Black Canyon National Park next time around. The property is conveniently located within relatively short drives to multiple scenic routes and mountain towns!
