We arrived late and we had snacks and drinks waiting for us. We spent our days out and about but enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere of Hanks House upon our return. If you, like us, want a retreat…sign up.
Unique property that is very peaceful. It has an interesting history. If you are looking for privacy and to get away from the city this is the place for you.
Hanks House was a fabulous stay. Its location and vicinity to everything in/near Anchorage is/was our main reason for choosing Hanks House (we are familiar with AK and were on a semi business trip). We were able to sightsee, do business, and return home at the end of the day to a wonderful retreat. Our Hostess/Host were through the woods, next door...extremely responsive to our needs, and never saw them maintaining our privacy too. Highly reccommend this VRBO if you are vacationing in AK and need an excellent jump off point!
We came to Alaska for a hockey tournament and found that the owner and her family have a hockey background which was great. Cristy even stopped by to say hi when she was at the rink. Cristy was wonderful and made our stay perfect. Hanks House was in a great location and was a very unique house which our kids loved. Cristy was helpful with any questions that came up and attempting to help us find fun excursions. We enjoyed our time at Hanks House which was a great size for a family of 5. We would love to stay here again if we are ever back in Alaska.

Thank you for your kind words. It was great to meet you and see your son skate in the tournament. Thank you for being great guests and leaving "Hank's House" so clean. We hope you can return when the weather is a little more accommodating!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Hank's House. It has fun quirks and corners, awesome windows, and lovely wild flowers all around.
We didn't see any animals, but some friends who came in for dinner did. Moose!
The owners are attentive and very easy to reach should you need anything. Overall we give them 5 stars!!
We were honored to be their very first guests! Thanks Cristy!

Thank you for staying with us. We appreciate the comments and continue to make upgrades including brand new mattresses and Down comforters for guests! Please come back again!
This is just a great property. Its a house with beautifully done Alaskan alpine landscaping including wildflowers and in the woods. You have total pricacy and we spent many evenings grilling on the deck and letting the kids play in the forest around the house. The house has a lot of nice touches to enhance the Alaska experience like paintings/prints by Alaskan artists, pictures of wildlife, and near floor to ceiling windows to enjoy views of the forest (including the occaisional moose) from inside the house. Inside is cozy and theres an upstairs deck with birdseye views of the property and even a peek theough the trees to the mountains and sea around Anchorage. Also situated on a hill/mountain with the massive Chugach range and state park just above the house. Flattop just a few min away.

About the host
Hosted by MOOSE MEADOW SUITE -Cristy or Vern
Typical Alaska family that loves to ski, hike, bike, fish and enjoy the quiet and serene space on the Hillside. We appreciate where we live and love to share all four seasons with others.
Why they chose this property
Homesteaded back in 1969, Hank built the original home in 1970 with upgrades in the 90's. Love and care went into every board. As part of our family for 30 years, he wanted us to have the house and we love it's personal, quirky and bright style. We want to share it with others and honor his legacy. It's peaceful, surrounded by majestic trees but open and welcoming. Wild animals regularly trek through -mostly moose, bunnies and lynx. They leave us alone and we leave them alone.
What makes this property unique
A rare find in the busy city, a quiet, spacious, private property that lets you believe you are a hundred miles from everywhere but a quick drive to the street and 5" later you can be at the golf course, hockey rink, ski area, riding trails, x-c trails, Alaska Zoo, magnificent hikes and more. Only 10 miles from the airport and centrally located to take advantage of downtown city activities but a quick left turn south and 3 miles later you can be at Alyeska, a world class alpine resort, 40" to Portage Glacier and 40" north more great fishing, rivers, kayaking and more. A great kick off location to take advantage of outback activities or city delights.
