About this property

Quiet mountains between Silver City & Pinos Altos. Kitchen/living room/bedroom

NO CLEANING FEE
Nestled one mile from the Gila National Forest and one mile down a dirt road between Silver City and Pinos Altos, a peaceful retreat awaits your arrival.
The casita kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals. The location allows you to enjoy Downtown Silver City restaurants & galleries 15 minutes away, or the iconic Buckhorn Saloon & Opera House just up the road in Pinos Altos. We are on-site, life long locals and look forward to helping you enjoy the rugged beauty of Southwest New Mexico.
The space
Our 650 square foot casita has been a labor of love that we've been honored to share with friends and family, and are pleased to now share on VRBO. 1-3 adults can fit comfortably, with a living/dining area, kitchen with all the amenities, 1 full bathroom, 1 bedroom w/ queen size bed+ a twin size bed in the nook off of the kitchen. There is a mini-split ac/heat unit in the both the living room and bedroom. Please see pictures for more details.
We love living in forest terrain, but just 10 minutes from the intersection of Hwy 15 and 32nd Street Bypass. The nearest public access to the Gila National Forest is one mile away. Our daytime skies are some of the bluest, and our nightime skies are some of the darkest.
The casita has its own dedicated WiFi for your personal devices, as well as the smart TV in bedroom (no cable, satellite, or antenna).
The kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, two gas burners, microwave, air fryer, coffee maker + all the amenities you'll need to prepare simple meals.
The bedroom is accessed through the bathroom. There is a solid, heavy door separating the living area and bathroom, and a light-weight, accordian style door separating the bathroom and bedroom. This lighter door affords visual privacy but is not soundproof. Please review the pictures and consider your comfort levels with this set-up as you plan.
Our water comes from our well. We are thankful for the good water pressure our well provides, and request that our guests are sustainably minded in regards to shower lengths and running water.
The family German Shepherd joins us on the property as we tend the chickens and go on walks, and may run up to introduce itself to you if given the opportunity.
Out of consideation for those with pet allergies, we do not allow pets in the casita.
Guest access
You will have full access to the casita and parking outside.
BIRDERS - Some May 2023 birder guests were ecstatic to spot multiple Painted Redstart & Red-faced Warbler just a 15 minute drive from the Casita. Grace's, Virginia & Townsend Warblers, Mexican Jays also recently spotted. See Pic #7.

Very good experience
Had good and prompt communication. Casita was very comfortable and so quiet at night. Got in late and hadn't had dinner yet, a very pleasant surprise was fresh eggs from her hens. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked with all necessary utensils and pans, also plenty of spice selections. I highly recommend this place, not exceeding far from downtown. I do reccomend getting there in day lite, no street lights. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Stargazer's Paradise in the Mountains Above Silver City, NM
I had a wonderful 3-night stay this comfortable casita in the mountains north of Silver City, NM. The house was clean and had ample amenities including bathroom and kitchen. The best feature was the dark skies and the suitability to stargaze without interference from bright city lights.

Charming Casita
This charming little casita had everything we needed for our weekend away. The decor was warm and inviting with nice southwestern touches throughout. Communication with the hosts was very helpful and responses where quick.

My husband and I are proud to be Silver City natives. We've wondered the world a little, but after several years we came to understand that there's no place like home.

Why they chose this property

We love our home nestled close to the Gila National Forest . Our guest casita has been a labor of love that we have shared with family and friends, and welcome those who cherish the peace and quiet found only down a long dirt road.
