The Neighborhood:

Knickerbocker Summit sits on one of Big Bear Lake's most sought-after streets. Knickerbocker Road is a quiet, pine-lined residential corridor with a true mountain-community feel — classic cabins, tall trees, fresh air, and the kind of pace that immediately tells your nervous system to slow down.

What makes this location exceptional is the walkability. The Village — Big Bear's hub of restaurants, bars, boutiques, and lakefront access — is just a few blocks away on foot. You don't need to move your car to grab breakfast, pick up groceries, or sit by the lake at sunset.

From the cabin itself, you catch glimpses of Big Bear Lake through the tree line, particularly beautiful at golden hour.

Overall the property met my expectations. The location is great if you want to frequent the towns shopping and lake activities. The driveway is steep and surrounding yard area is not easy to navigate. Plan on only being in the cabin. The exception is the patio, this was very nice and where we spent most of our time.

Liked: Check-in, location

Could use some TLC.

PROS: The location (walking distance to the Village), the "backyard" was an open hillside, good for sledding and/or hiking, decently priced. CONS: could not get the hot tub to heat above 78 degrees, quite a few of the electrical outlets did not work, laundry hook-ups but no laundry (washer/drier were on the driveway area), the interior was old and worn (several places were held together by tape, no snow shovel available.
