This is a lovely getaway home by the beach. We used it as a home base to visit family in the area, and not in season to enjoy the beach amenities, but it had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay.

Our stay at The Big Easy was amazing! The house is beautiful! It is well located near beautiful beaches and restaurants. There are many restaurants and stores within walking distance. The house is well appointed. The kitchen is fully stocked. The beds are comfy and the linens are of excellent quality. I particularly loved the porches, both of which had ceiling fans! My daughters also took the train up from Manhattan to meet us, which was super easy. This house is truly a work of art. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. The home owners were a pleasure to deal with. We can’t wait to return!

Tara, what an incredibly lovely review — thank you! 🥰 Hearing you call our home a “work of art” truly touched us. It was such a pleasure having you, and your enthusiasm throughout your stay was contagious! We especially love that your daughters could so easily hop on the train from Manhattan and become part of the getaway — those are exactly the kinds of moments we hope our home helps bring together. 💛 We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you back for another getaway — in Connecticut or Maine! ⚓️

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review, Ken! We're delighted to hear you and your family enjoyed the home, especially hearing how much the kids enjoyed the fun and unique decorations around the fish pond. Knowing those special touches created wonderful memories for your family truly made our day. Since self-check-in was mentioned, we'd like to offer one clarification for future guests. Although becoming familiar with the digital keypad took an extra moment, Ken successfully accessed the home independently using the same personalized access code provided before arrival. That original access code remained unchanged throughout the reservation, unlocking the home that night and continuing to provide access throughout his stay—all without any changes or host intervention. To help make every arrival as effortless as possible, we provide detailed, step-by-step arrival instructions before every stay—allowing guests to confidently self-check in whenever it's most convenient for them, including late-night arrivals. It was truly our pleasure to host your family. Thank you again for choosing The Big Easy by the Sea, and we hope to welcome you back for another relaxing getaway! Warmly, Laura, Dana & Maia

This property is adorable! Very thoughtful touches and perfect for our small group. The location is perfect—short walk to the beach and shops/breakfast/convenience store. We had gorgeous weather and we had our coffee on the porch both mornings. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Very good communication. Would definitely stay here again!

Great little get away!

Beautiful opportunity to see the beach and bring a furry friend. Lovely back yard to sit out and relax. Only wish it was more into the summer season, as it was still chilly some days.

The Big Easy

Property was well maintained and had everything to make the stay pleasant. Very comfortable, lots of amenities, great location from the short walk to the beach or even the shorter walk to the creamery. We enjoyed both! We even fit in a few movies. Would recommend for anyone who wants a relaxing atmosphere!!

Perfect Weekend in Walnut Beach

We had an awesome trip to Walnut Beach! The place was perfect - great location, walking distance to the beach and boardwalk. Close to a great coffee shop and a tremendous Lobster Roll at the Lazy Lobster! Evenings at the fire pit in the backyard was a perfect end to the day. We will be back. Thank you!!!

Beautiful Fall Weekend

We had a party of 4 adult family members along with our mini golden doodle. The property was clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. We also enjoyed the gas fire place in the back yard. The fenced in yard was nice for our dog also. The property was in walking distance of pretty much anything you’d want and the beach was right there too. We would definitely rent this again. Thanks Laura & Dana!

Quirky and Comfortable!!!

Loved everything about the house. Very colorful, clean, relaxing, I felt very much at home. The kitchen was well appointed. Spent lots of time relaxing on the lower front deck. Comfortable bed. Neighbors were very friendly. Enjoyed walks in the neighborhood, along Silver Sands Boardwalk out to Fort Trumbull Beach and biking along the Milford shoreline. Looking forward to my next visit!!

All we can say is WOW!

This property was super clean and a cute charming home. The hosts have thought of everything you might possibly need to have a memorable experience . Every draw and cabinet is labeled as to its contents so there is no searching for anything. The fenced back yard was great for a small dog. The ice cream shop on the corner sells yummy treats. The Walnut Beach coffee shop around the corner was great for breakfast and lunch. But most importantly, the host is quick to respond to any request or inquiry and go out of her way to help you.

Loved this place! Clean, comfortable, and charming. It was perfect for a quiet family beach trip, and what really sets this place apart is the attention to detail put into the place -- all those little things that allow you to just relax and pretend you live by the beach (there is a *knife shapener*! do you know how many dull or even nonexistent knives I have struggled with in a vacation rental??). I enjoyed drinking my morning coffee by the koi, trying out the local restaurants and cafes, and of course Walnut Beach and Silver Sands. We would absolutely come back!!My only caveat would be that if you have any children who are not steady walkers on stairs, like many houses in this area the stairs can be tricky with one banister. Fine for any kiddos who are sure on the stairs but might require extra attention for a younger child learning to walk.

Needed Road Trip

This place was unbelievable clean and so tidy and organized even down to the so called junk draw that everyone has, except Laura and Danna....theirs was labeled!! And, so was everything, without having to open up every cabinet to find what you need. They also stocked extras of everything one needs. Heck, even the toilet was fun to use at night! Their house was so cool, too....the decks and the backyard with the sounds from the small pond as well as all the fun backyard stuff is there if you need. The neighborhood was so quiet and nice people saying hello. There is also plenty of things for everyone to do so close by. So, go ahead and book!

A Little Slice of Heaven

They say the "devil is in the detail", if that is so, then the devil is alive and well at Steps 2 Beach. This property is by far, one of the best rentals I've stayed at, opinion second by a teenager, so you know it must be so. The home is perfectly located mere steps from various small beaches and approximately four blocks from Walnut Beach, a beautiful, calm beache perfect for children. There are a number of good places to eat, including a delicious ice cream parlor about 100' from the house, and La Catrina, a Mexican spot around the corner. If you are too tired to eat out, order from "It's Just Wings" a local spot, so good! Laura, Dana and the property manager have gone through great lenghts to ensure that the guests' every need was met, From fluffy towels, to beach chairs, toiletries and every kitchen gadget imaginable, they even had doggy pantry! There was nothing better this week than seating in one of the porches, taking in the breeze under their cute palms. This little gem of a home has it all. We can't wait to come back!!!

Great place for family reunion

This home was perfect for us - four adult siblings (some with partners) and adult children in their 20s for a reunion following a family event. There were enough bedrooms and bathrooms (2 private and 2 shared full baths plus a powder room) and the main floor has a nice big kitchen for food preparation. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms nice and clean and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking for a large group. We were able to add extra chairs from the kitchen so all 10 of us could eat together in the dining room. The living room was a great place for hanging out, playing games, completing jigsaw puzzles and visiting. The back deck/porch makes this property a beautiful and relaxing place - - it is large with enough seating for several groups to sit out and chat while enjoying the view of the salt marsh (with lots and lots of birds) and the ocean beyond. The neighborhood was quiet and the location at the end of the road, felt somewhat secluded and private. While we did not use the backyard it would be a good place for corn hole or other backyard games. We found two cut-throughs to walk to the rocky beach which was nice for walks. Walking on the shore away from Pt. Judith led to a sandier beach. We were here in early June mid-week and it was virtually empty. We enjoyed dinner out at George's restaurant and and a ferry trip over to Block Island to stroll about there and see the small museum. We had a very good experience and would definitely return.
