About this property
Beautiful home with mountain and river views.
Gorgeous 5-bedroom riverfront home with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge and Robinson River.
Welcome to the Madison House! This custom designed and built estate rests on a knoll overlooking 13.5 private acres on the Robinson River in rural Madison County, 30 miles north of Charlottesville, VA. This house sleeps up to 14. Views of Skyline Drive, Old Rag Mountain, the Blue Ridge Mountains and direct Robinson River frontage makes this property a perfect destination for all four seasons. The outdoor space is ideal for friends and family gatherings.
Several firepit and picnic areas, comfy hammocks, tree swings and Adirondack chairs make for ample relaxing and recharging in the country air. The property offers a stocked catch and release fishing pond and direct frontage on the Robinson River for fishing and wading. Kayaks, PFDs and paddles provided. Spring is best for fishing and kayaking! Local outfitters are also available for great kayaking experiences. Enjoy over a mile of groomed walking trails on the property. Our golf cart is no longer available.
Our newly renovated, bright and airy home includes all new furniture, fixtures, bedding and linens and every comfort we could think of! With post and beam construction, the house features 18-foot ceilings and gorgeous wood throughout. The main level features a large great room/dining area, which opens to an expansive deck, allowing for alfresco dining and seating for 12! The deck is perfect for grilling out with sunset/western views. Watch the hawks and eagles fly, a passing deer or an occasional sighting of a friendly black bear. The dining room table seats 10-12 as well, with a comfy 12-foot bench to enjoy amazing views of the Robinson River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the great room, a floor-to-ceiling, 18-foot riverstone fireplace provides for roaring fires during the fall and winter months. Complementary firewood is provided for our guests. Lots of cozy blankets and comforters too! Also in the great room, a new 65" Smart TV with streaming capability allows for group viewing.
The kitchen is fully stocked with new dinnerware, cookware, small appliances, sharp knives and everything you need for cooking in! Enjoy a big crockpot of chili after hiking in the surrounding area. The kitchen features both a drip coffee maker and Nespresso Espresso maker--espresso pods provided! Just bring your own favorite coffee to brew a big pot for family and friends. Alexa is also available in the kitchen area
Also on the main level is a primary bedroom, the Deer Room, with a new king bed and beautiful views of the Blue Ridge and the Robinson. A full bathroom is right there! A den, also on the main level, with a new comfy sleep sofa and full bath is the perfect nook for reading or a quick glance at email! The den opens onto a gorgeous 3-sided glass porch, the Four Seasons Lounge, with vaulted ceilings, again allowing for breathtaking views. A vintage tiki bar, comfy mid-century furniture, and a new 55" Smart TV allow for a fun gathering spot for family and friends! Bring your own vinyl records or enjoy ours on the new bluetooth stereo speakers with turntable.
The top floor features two cozy dormer-style bedrooms, sharing a new full bathroom with opening skylight--shower in the trees! One bedroom with a beautiful mountain view, has a new king bed, the Bear Room, and the other, the Moose Room has two new twin beds. Both are very comfy!
Downstairs from the main level is a large play room with a ping pong table, foosball, table, small pool table, a vintage poker table with chairs for 8 and a Carrom board. Enjoy numerous boardgames and puzzles with your group. Two more bright bedrooms and full bath with a jetted tub/shower are downstairs, with easy walk out to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine on the cozy little patio. One bedroom, with a gorgeous river view has a new king bed, the River Room, with two twin beds in the final bedroom, the Sunflower Room.
The 2-bed bunkhouse, with heating, air conditioning and wood stove, is located behind garage (key on key holder in main house front foyer). No running water/toilet facilities but small fridge, bottled water and Keurig coffee provided. An outdoor shower is located under the rear deck stairway, April-September.
New this year, a "Secret Hideout" located in the lower level, which features 2 twin beds. This is the perfect place for kids to sleep or use as a fort. Adults welcome too!
