Thanksgiving Getaway

We had the best time and was quite surprised from our stay. This was a true mountain dream stay along the Toxaway Falls. Anyone to take the hike down to the bottom from the condo. It’s worth every minute. The pictures are exact of what you get when you walk in this cozy little mountain cabin. Michelle was so helpful and friendly.

The Surprise Was on Us!

We came to Lake Toxaway for a surprise 90th birthday party for my uncle. The party was held at the Mountain Cafe (my cousin and her husband own it and the Historic Market) and I preferred to stay close by vs. driving back and forth from a hotel. I started a skeptical search for a rental property in Lake Toxaway, thinking there wouldn’t be anything in a reasonable price range for two people (my son and me). I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find Barrow’s Den! Not only was it so close to the venue we could have walked if we were so inclined (we weren’t!); it was also only $80 more than the hotels I looked at in Brevard. It was WELL worth the difference to live in the cozy den with the beautiful view. The condo was immaculate and well provisioned. (Frequent VRBO flyers will understand when I mention there were even sharp knives in the kitchen…) The recent renovation was well done and gave an updated feel while maintaining a charming cabin character. The bed and pull-out were comfortable and there was the bonus of having two bathrooms and two showers even though it is a one bedroom. Instructions from Michelle were thorough and she was always quick to respond to my questions. I wish we had had more time to just hang out in the rocking chairs on the deck. The sunrise view was spectacular every single morning. Next time, Barrow’s Den will be the intentional destination and deck sitting will be the reason to return! And, I suppose, I could visit my favorite cousin and uncle. :)

Girls trip

This place was amazing! We couldn't have found a better view of the falls, trees with their beautiful colors and the sunrise/sunset are undescribable with so much beauty. Everything you need is there. The place was clean, easy to get in and out of. Saw one white squirrel the day we arrived but if you travel to Brevard into the neighborhoods, we got to get numerous with great pictures. Thanks so much for the many memories and laughs that were made this past week. A Bryan

Heaven on Earth!

We enjoyed our stay and the peaceful moments of setting on the deck. Soaking in the view and the morning sunrise Saturday. A much needed get away for someone that owns their own business and totally disconnected from the world. The mountains are our happy place.

I am a native to this county but grew up as a military child, spending my teenage years in Germany. I have an extremely large family on both of my parents' sides, have two grown sons, and have three of the most loving, generous, and beautiful grandchildren a Mimi could thank God for. I love the mountains, the mystics of the waterfalls, the trails and the camping experiences of the wild. I love to read, swim, picnic, horseback ride, and of course, being from here, I love the ocean and anything salt water. The Lord definitely made sure I was of multi-interest and adventurous. I am dedicated to every aspect of my life, as God has blessed me in abundance of all. I am here to help if you need anything during your stay, committed to making your stay as memorable as possible.

Why they chose this property

I love the beauty & serenity found here and the view of the endless mountains - the smell of the fresh air, coziness you feel, and watching the waterfall just outside the back door is a thrill. The excitement of various animals that show up from time to time on our deck is amusing. A restaurant is just up the hill when I want to take a night off & chill out. The 2 towns close by are really excellent to visit & has lots to offer. There is much to do here wither you're an outdoor person or not. I like trail hiking & my husband likes golf and we both like sight seeing these parts of the mountains. It’s hard to tear ourselves away from the condo because it’s so peaceful & relaxing. I’m sad to part when it's time to go home but it gives me something to look forward to when we return to the "Barrow's Den in the Smokies."
