Loved the cabin! It had everything our family needed from cookware to toiletries and fans and blankets etc. it is just far enough out of town to see wildlife and have a great view of pikes peak. It is a short drive to town give or take 5-10 minutes depending how bumpy the dirt roads were. I was grateful for my husbands truck as it was rainy and muddy while we were there. I would stay here again!
Great location and loved all the wildlife. Very quiet and relaxing which was much needed. Host was amazing and very responsive. Hope to be back next year.

Beautiful scenery around rental! Peaceful and quiet. Home was very clean and well organized.
This house was just so perfect! We enjoyed the quiet surroudings, the awesome mountain views driving to the house, watching deer wander by the house to feed, and all the attention to detail in the house. Thank you Jim, Nicole, and family for a wonderful time near the mountains around Woodland Park!
We loved our stay here with friends. So peaceful and not too far from civilization. The home was very well stocked and well appointed. It worked great for two couples each having their own bedroom and bath. We had a minivan for June/July which worked fine but a 4x4 during the fall through spring would be highly recommended!!
Lovely stay, clean home and a real cabin on the woods. It wasnt snowing but we had plenty of snow in the back yard that the kids played with and enjoyed. The road isnt a gravel road just not pave so it wasnt to bad coming and going from the cabin. Walmart is 15 mins away. The kids loved their room plenty of toys and things to do.had a great trip over all.
The property was great. Very clean and set up well. However, the drive and finding it was not so great. I screenshot the directions but not the address (bad mistake). The directions were fine until the end where it said "no more turns from this point" maybe no turns but several curves. The roads are not continually marked, so it's hard to tell if you are on the correct road. It wouldn't have been such an issue, but we ended driving past the house and proceeded up two very steep hill where the road had been washed out in long "ditches" When we get to the top, we realize we have to go back down the very steep, washed out road. It would have been nice to have had the address in the directions as it was written, by the time we realized the directions were not clear, my friend was searching for the address. Just a total fiasco and really glad we didn't suffer damages to my vehicle. And, yes it is an all-wheel drive with off-road settings which you definitely will need if it should happen to rain. We were very lucky it stayed dry.
Took my wife here for a birthday getaway. It was nicely tucked away in the woods and close enough to town and to Manitou Springs for hikes, climbing, and good food. The place was neat, clean, and we had a family of deer come visit by the deck each morning! Couldn’t have been better.
A Nice getaway spot. It was exactly what we were looking for on our short notice 4 day weekend. The house had all the things needed in a VRBO. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils and cook ware you would need. All appliances worked with no issues. The linens and beds were clean and comfortable. No issues with the bathrooms. Check in was seamless and house was clean except for anticipated small things like some passed away spiders in the sinks. I did not realize the main bedroom was in the loft area and its bedroom was down a flight of stairs on the main level but that was not a problem for my wife or me. The location does have a bit of dirt road to drive. We understood this and was not a problem but by day 4 it was a little tiring. A nice quiet retreat. I really enjoyed reading on the secluded porch and listening to the munching of the deer as they fed right under the deck, amazing.

About the host
Hosted by Nichole Worrel
As your hosts, Jim, and Ann, we were born and raised in southeast Michigan. We are lifelong Michigan residents. While we love the beauty and lakes of Michigan but we can't get enough of the mountains in Colorado.
Why they chose this property
As our kids were growing up, we found ourselves vacationing in Colorado on a regular basis. Having thoroughly visited the entire state west of I-25 we found ourselves continuously drawn to the Woodland Park area. It was on one such trip in 2018, when we were camping in the Colorado Campground just north of here, when we came across this beautiful chalet. Since two of our children now live in Colorado with families of their own, we thought this would be the perfect place for a second home, and the Trail House was born. We named it the Trail House, recalling the trail houses of yesteryear where travelers would rest from their journey, after a long day on the trail. It is the perfect respite for recounting the excitement of the day’s travels and adventures, or just taking in the mountain experience. This is our home away from home and we are delighted to share it with you. We travel to Colorado often and always feel at ease the moment we walk through the door and kick off our shoes. We have made so many wonderful memories here already, and together with our wonderful and local co-host, Nichole Worrel, we will do everything we can to make your stay as pleasant and wonderful as possible.
What makes this property unique
This is a great place to get away for some rest and relaxation. It's a quiet, peaceful location in the mountains where you can see wildlife such as mule deer, elk, turkeys, fox and many others on a regular basis. Close by there are many fun and exciting things to do and see, for people of all ages and activity levels. Each season brings its own beautiful scenery, and views of Pikes Peak on the drive to the Trail House are hard to beat.
