We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It's very clean, nicely decorated and has comfortable beds. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and well-stocked. It's in a "neighborhood" of widely spaced homes along dirt roads. You can see 3 other houses from the driveway side of the cabin but you don't see them when you are looking out the very large windows in the living room. From the 2 balconies there are views into the forest and you'll regularly see mule deer and turkeys. There are no mountain views from the house. It was quiet and peaceful during our whole 10 day stay. My recommendations for improvements are: Insulate the lower-level master bedroom from the sound of the water pump. It can get noisy down there when the pump is running. Also install a rack and hangers in the lower-level master bedroom so that we can hang our clothes (there's a dresser but no closet down there). In the upper-level loft bedroom there's a large closet but that bedroom needs a dresser. There's no washer and dryer at the house but Woodland Park has several good laundromats. There's a lot to do in the area and the cabin's location is in the middle of great places to visit towards the east (Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, Cheyenne Mt. St. Park, Dinosaur Museum in Woodland Park) and other places towards the west and south (Florissant Fossil Beds, Colorado Wolf Sanctuary, Mueller State Park, Royal Gorge, Eleven Mile St. Park, Buena Vista hot springs). Overall, a great visit.
Our family of 4 stayed 6 nights in this lovely cabin for summer vacation. Here are our Pros and Cons for this cabin:
Pros:
Remote and very quiet but not too far from town for groceries, restaurants, etc.
Newly built cabin that is well themed and decorated.
Very well-stocked kitchen.
Lots of family games available.
Excellent value for cabin condition and size.
Owner was quickly responsive and offered the best possible solution for an issue.
Cons:
Water cistern/pump extremely loud in the main bedroom when water is being used anywhere in the cabin.
Internet was too slow for anything to load on phones or to stream anything to watch on the TVs.
No closet or storage space (such as a dresser) available for main bedroom, so no way to hang up clothes or unpack a suitcase.
No washer, dryer, or iron available.
Very low water pressure for the showers.
Cabin does not have a mountain view, just trees.
There is no AC. I think this is normal for mountain cabins; however, with the large open windows, during our stay in July the living area and loft were miserably hot during the day.
We loved our stay here. Beautiful and house was wonderful. Road to cabin was a dirt road and very steep. Had to unload half our covered trailer so the load wasn’t so heavy on the way out. Afraid my Buick enclave would have problems with the full load. Left the trailer at the main road and then went back down to get the rest of our things. We had a lot. Had been camping in Yellowstone the prior week. A truck would have pulled it out with no problem.
