Just ten minutes south of the historic village of Mendocino and only 3 minutes south of the movie-famed Heritage House Inn, TIDEPOOL is a unique cliff-top oceanfront retreat – a spacious 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home perched 100 feet above scenic Whitesboro Cove. Its angular box design, beamed ceilings, and redwood interior and exterior are reminiscent of the Sea Ranch architectural style. A veritable sixty foot wraparound floor-to-ceiling wall of glass, spanning the living and sun rooms, immerses you in the panoramic sweep of the rugged Albion Headlands whitewater coastline, Whitesboro Cove, and the Pacific Ocean. Sit inside or outside on the wind-sheltered deck or in the hot tub at eye level with soaring osprey, pelicans, hawks, and gulls and enjoy the nonstop procession of ocean swells crashing into the rocks below. The pelicans and osprey hover all day long above the cove, crashdiving into the water for the local sushi. During their seasonal migrations, you'll experience the parade of spouts, fins and flukes of Pacific gray whales.
The Master bedroom loft (king bed & half bath) and its oversized North facing window offer a picture perfect view of the crashing waves without even having to lift your head from the pillow and a private cozy deck to enjoy the sun or your own private view of the stars. The 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms on the first floor (King bed and 2 twin-XL's) are located down the hall from the galley kitchen. The downstairs Master bedroom suite features its own recently remodeled bathroom with an oversized tiled shower and bench combo with bar-holds for safety. A formal dining room comfortably seats six to eight and the Franklin fireplace compliments any meal. While dining, enjoy the pre-recorded keyboard selections on the Yamaha Electric Clavinova or the musicians amongst you can make your own music on the Clavinova and Electric Vibraphone.
Stretch out in the paired Scandinavian leather recliners in the privacy of the all-cedar-and-glass Lindal sunroom and listen to your favorite music while meditating upon the ever-changing panoramic ocean, coastal, and bay vistas. No matter the weather outside, it’s always comfy inside because of the house’s central heating. With a cozy fire burning in the wood stove, enjoy the spectacular ocean sunsets and the grazing and winged wildlife while ensconced upon the living room’s comfy leather sofas. Both the living room and upstairs master bedroom feature a Bose audio and 55-inch HDTV entertainment center fed by Roku set-top box with complimentary Youtube TV(55 TV channels). DVD player. iPod docking cable to stereo.
Like an oceanfront oasis, your privacy is assured – located at the end of a cul-de-sac; TIDEPOOL is part of a private, GATED road just two minutes south of the Ledford House Restaurant and Albion River Restaurant, two great dining experiences on the coast. Nearby, the quaint town of Albion offers everything you need for your much-needed retreat, and the Albion Flats Cafe, just 3 minutes North, cooks up the best budget-priced breakfasts on the North Coast while offering a surrealistic view from below the last remaining wooden trestle bridge on CA Highway One. Although there is NO BEACH ACCESS from our cliff top property, you can enjoy stopping off at Van Damme Beach in Little River or Big River Beach in Mendocino during your ten minute drive into Mendocino.
35+ Mbps broadband Internet connection and WiFi is available anywhere in the house so bring your tablets, laptops, and Roku devices to stream your favorite video entertainment. Roku's provided if you want to login to your streaming services.

We had such a great stay! Howard was an awesome host and genuinely a pleasure to work with—kind, accommodating, and very responsive. The house was beautiful, exactly as described, and the ocean view was incredible. The location was peaceful and scenic, with great restaurants nearby and easy access to everything we wanted to explore. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again. Thanks so much, Howard!
We enjoyed a wonderful few days in this lovely home, perched on a grassy cliff, overlooking the rocky Mendocino coast. The house offers privacy and seclusion, and all the amenities we needed for a relaxing break. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen very well equipped, and the gathering areas plentiful. Add to that a variety of music and TV options, and you can hide away for as long as you need. We also loved the visiting wildlife: deer, fox, osprey, and many other avian friends.
We had an amazing stay! Home had everything we needed and the views cannot be beat! We spent a majority of our time in the sunroom just watching the ocean. The kitchen is well stocked and we made most of our meals at the house. The bed was comfortable and the electric blanket made it cozy on the cool nights. There were deer that wondered through the property daily. We are already thinking of when we can return. Close enough to Mendocino and Fort Bragg but away from the hustle and bustle. Howard is an exceptional host and was very kind and communicative.
This was our second stay at Tidepool. Very relaxing watching the ocean, the deer and birds from the hot tub or behind the fireplace. Howard is a great host. We will definitely be back!
This was an amazing place to stay. The host, Howard, went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information we needed to have a smooth, enjoyable stay. The communication was excellent and the descriptions of the property were accurate. The location and lodgings cannot be beat. The house is meticulously cared for and a peaceful oasis. I cannot recommend this place enough!
We loved staying here. It was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The view was enough to entertain us all day long, but there were plenty of books and games and a television if you wanted to do something else. Howard was a wonderful host and was available if we had questions. We would definitely come back!
The views are amazing, live up to the pictures! This place was very tranquil and just what we needed to relax. Mr. Pines is an excellent host - through details of the area and things to do. Definitely a place to visit again.
This is an incredible place. Stunning view from the cliff-top. Saw so many deer, a fox, a little bouncy skunk.. Howard was a wonderful host and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you!!
We love love loved our stay at Tidepool!!!! Our only complaint would be that it was too short! The view is incredible and every changing. Could sit and enjoy that all day from inside with a cozy fire going or from the hot tub. And the wildlife -- a wide variety of birds, deer and the cute little foxes. There's a little grocery shop just across the bridge. And lots of wonderful restaurant to dine along the highway and in Mendocino. We took a paddle up Big River, renting canoes from Catch a Canoe and visited the Mendocino Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg. Highly recommend!Great, comfortable accommodations. Equipped with lots of books, games, a piano and vibraphone. Thanks for offering up your place for others to enjoy. Super appreciated! Hope to return in the near future.
This house has an extraordinary Mendocino ocean view . you can enjoy it from the living room or the sunroom. It lives up to its description and more so. It's in a good location, near hiking trails. It's kind of musical...there is a clavinova piano and a xylophone and it was fun to use them. We cooked in the kitchen and it was fine, but has not been updated and it is a galley kitchen. The two bathrooms have been updated. We only used one bed and it was good, with a firm mattress. The host was very responsive and will get back to you quickly. The house was very clean and well taken care of. Generally, things went well and we enjoyed our stay there.
Amazing spot on the coast! Great communication from our host prior to and throughout the stay. There is so much to do nearby, even during the rainy season. Highly recommended.
What a fantastic place! Beautiful whitewater views, deer greeting every morning, and totally comfortable for our family get-together. Great location—convenient to the redwoods, the coast, and Mendocino.
