About this property
Lowcountry Historical Estate- Guest House
Middleburg is a 325-year-old property located on the East Branch of the Cooper River. The Main House was completed in 1697 and still stands as the oldest home in the southeastern United States. The property features expansive outdoor amenities including live oak groves, trails, ponds, and direct access to the East Branch of the Cooper River for paddlesports or fishing. The estate is near numerous public recreational assets around coastal South Carolina.
The Guest House serves as functional and modern accommodation within the Middleburg estate and serves as an ideal escape for couples and families travelling to the Lowcountry. Originally constructed at the end of the 18th century, the current iteration of the home was completed in 2017 and retains a number of original elements from the property, including the massive heart pine flooring sourced from other structures on site. The primary gathering and dining quarters of the home overlook several live oaks on the northwest side of the property, in addition to the banks of the Cooper River.
The Guest House features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms:
Bedroom 1: Queen bed and ensuite bathroom
Bedroom 2: Full bed, shared bathroom
Bedroom 3: Twin bunk beds, shared bathroom
The Guest House incorporates the simple and plain exterior that provides the low country charm exemplified at Middleburg. Walking through the front door will bring guests to the living room offering plenty of seating, a full kitchen, a dining area, and an exquisite view of the property and Cooper River. Complete with modern amenities, guests will have access to two full bathrooms and three bedrooms with space for up to six people.
Guests are welcome to use all outdoor common areas to the grounds of Middleburg. The property is a non-smoking facility and pets are not permitted on the premises. There is no cable or internet service. Cell service is limited on the property dependent on provider.
