The Aspen Cabin is located just far enough out of town to have that country feel and yet just close enough to run to the store quickly to get that last minute item for the grill! It is nestled in old growth Ponderosa's and on days that it is windy as all get out in Show Low, it stays reasonably calm down at deck and patio level. Traffic and traffic noise is minimal but not non existent. Friday and Sunday afternoon you'll hear the most. This is everyone either coming to the cool pines or regrettably returning to the heat. The back yard has plenty of comfortable, up to date patio seating where you can relax and watch everything from Humming birds to Western Tanagers and whatever other wildlife might happen by. The cabin has no cooling on it because it does not need it. By opening a couple windows in the evening then closing them when you get up in the morning, you'll find the cabin stays cool all day long. Come to relax and enjoy all the White Mountains has to offer from hiking and biking, (Buena Vista trail is a mere half mile away) ATVing, snow skiing, bird watching, to hunting and fishing. The large back deck and patio area is great for kicking back and relaxing while you grill on the provided Charbroil Tru Infrared gas grill with an unobstructed view of the forest Two fixed yet adjustable lighted 11' sun-brellas provide cool shade for those warmish summer days and there's a gas fire pit and a lower level wood fire pit for those coolish nights. You can simply stay here and go no where and enjoy the calming serenity the forest has to offer or just use it to relax after a busy day of activity. Regardless of the purpose of your trip, business to recreation, you'll be sure to find this cozy get away a place to make fond memories.

Hey Robert, thank you so much. It was a pleasure to have you and your family as guests. We would not hesitate to have you back again and we hope no one ever hesitates to host you in the future. You all were great guests. Thank you for bringing the patio chair to our attention. Turns out, the weld had rusted out and gave way....because of you, it's been resolved.
Be safe...and have a good day.

Very clean and cozy. The beds seemed uncomfortable.

Hi James,
Thank you for your stay. Sorry you did not seem comfortable. This is literally the first complaint we've had on the beds and it comes as quite the surprise to us. We typically meet our guests during their stay (this time we were out of town) and most all of them commented on the comfort of the beds (even extended stays). Unfortunately it is clearly impossible to meet everyone's taste when it comes to beds but we do the best we can. We just wish you would have taken into consideration that these beds are not your beds at home when you rated your stay. We hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family and were happy to have you as guests. We wish you the best of luck with more suitable accommodations in the future.
Have a blessed day,
Barbara and Brian
Very nice little cabin. Decorated wonderfully. Size was just right for us. Favorite part was backing up to forest

Thank you Becky,
We really enjoyed hosting you and John. You left the cabin in perfect condition and we really enjoyed visiting with you. We will implement your suggestions and really thank you for your input. We have already fixed the knob on the burner ( it had been over turned and made it out of alignment).
We hope your journey home was safe and event free. You guys are always welcome back and hope you can stay cool until then!
Best regards,
Barbara and Brian
I needed some nature therapy and that is exactly what we got. I love the backyard where we spent most of our time. I love how clean, well kept up, and how the cabin is decorated. I love the location and being able to go hiking in the back. We will for sure come back!

Hi Deana,
It was a real pleasure hosting you as guests. We look forward to your return.
Best Regards,

We spent three weeks at the lazy Double J. .in June & early July of 2024. The 2 bedroom cabin was just what we needed to escape the summer heat of Tucson. The cabin was cozy and very well decorated. It was a great central location to explore all the neighboring communities (Pinetop, Heber, Greer, Taylor & Snowflake). The cabin backed up to the national forest, providing great views & hiking right from the back gate. We especially enjoyed spending our evenings on the patio listening to music and taking in the views. The hosts were very accommodating and were egar to help make our time spent as enjoyable as possible. If your looking for great spot to enjoy Show Low and the mountain life, this cabin is an excellent choice.

Thank you Robert and Cindy, we really enjoyed hosting you two and you are always welcome back. We kinda hated to see you leave as you were such great guests. You left the cabin in immaculate shape and made it super easy for us to prep it for the next guests.
We hope to see you back again in the near future!
Thanks so much again,
Barbara and Brian
About the host
Hosted by Barbara
We are the owners of the cabin and live in the area. We fully remodeled it ourselves and we manage it ourselves. We do not outsource it's management like many owners. We like being hands on and if you call for assistance, you will deal with Brian (my fiancee) or me. We care sincerely about our guests and the quality of their stay and will go out of our way to insure their happiness. We don't believe being an absent owner or a having a property manager gives the attention to detail that guests deserve. Although we work full time, we are always close enough to help hands on. We have found that guests at times have unexpected issues arise, or maybe something got damaged. We are very easy to get along with and would prefer open communication so that a simple resolution can be reached. We have also had guests try to cover up something, only to be charged for it later. This resulted in them acting adolescent and writing an untruthful review just because they were caught stealing and we took measures to recoup our loss. That entire issue could have been avoided with honest communication. We try to keep the listing as current as possible. Please don't just look at the photos. Things change over time. Read the entire listing, it will help prevent surprises. During vacancies we spend our time tinkering with the cabin and adding little details for the guests. A lot of times we find ourselves relaxing on the deck not wanting to go home! We love seeing people relax and enjoy some time from the hustle and bustle. Having the opportunity to provide a place to do this and being a part of someones happiness brings us a lot of joy.
