About this property

Sunsets, Stars, Sleep near the Sheep. Centrally located to many rural towns.

Enjoy a quiet, peaceful stay in a 1 story house on a working sheep ranch. Located 15 minutes from the City of Hornell, Alfred Colleges & Tall Pines ATV Park. 40 minutes to Swain Ski Resort and Stony Brook Park, 45 to Keuka Lake & wineries, & 55 to Corning. The hilltop views showcase amazing sunsets, loads of stars and the colors of fall foliage. Take a walk down one of the paths on the 100 acre ranch. Sit on the ridge and watch the sunsets. Have coffee in the sunroom watching the sunrise. Watch the birds, wildlife and sheep out the windows and from the country front porch. The house has a new whole house water filtration system. The open concept plan gives you a wonderful space for individuals, families or work roommates. Many of our guests have stayed here while working on local jobs. You have the privacy of the entire house with the option to meet the sheep. Some of our favorite memories are feeding the lambs with our guests' children.
We are close to the city of Hornell with many stores, including Walmart and Wegmans. Enjoy the local restaurants like Cidar Creek Brewerey, Marinos fine dining, Killbuck Inn, and many other restaurants plus diners and pizzerias. You might run into Bill Pullman. He is from our small town and still owns and visits his family's farm. There are many local wedding venues in the area also.
Our location is listed first on the Steuben County NY Peaks list at an elevation of 2410'. Call Hill Mountain is the 39th highest out of 2076 named mountains in the Allegheny Plateau. Which is a part of the Appalachian Mountains. This gives us the beauty of a winter wonderland during snow season, and cool breezes during the hot summer. Our town allows atvs to ride the roads legally and Tall Pines is just over the hill. There are many county and state lands around as well. You don't want to miss the opportunity to experience this unique location.

Beautiful place, cozy home
I couldn't get over how beautiful this part of the country is. If you, like us, prefer to stay away from other people and closer to nature, you should consider this spot. From here we took moderate drives to Watkins Glen and Letchworth State Park, so lower Finger Lakes region should be accessible. The house is clearly still a work in progress, but everything was tidy and clean. The kitchen was well stocked, and our kids enjoyed the board games and books made available. We watched the sheep, but didn't have time to get up close, though we were invited to do so if we wanted. All told, we were really pleased with our stay and would recommend.

Perfect stay in a little piece of paradise.
100 acre farm with 50+ little newborn lambs running around nearby was so darn cute!!. We had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. The kitchen had all the essentials and plenty of space to spread out in the home. Sunsets were incredible and the nighttime sky's were awesome. About 15 min from ATV park made for a perfect long weekend. We will be back. Thanks much!

Why they chose this property

This sheep ranch is too beautiful not to share. While sitting in the back yard, you can see groups of 100's of yellow finches, the sheep, the amazing colors of the sky and the open skies bring the bright lights of the stars at night. Walk or drive to the ridge on our property and see sunsets that you will not forget. Our tenants say they are the best they have ever seen. Relax on the front porch and watch the deer, turkeys and other wildlife. Wild flowers are everywhere when in season.

What makes this property unique

It's a sheep ranch. Want to cuddle with a couple and possibly feed one during lambing season? We can set that up. The house has a large yard, an asparagus patch, and lots of room to hang outside. There are paths on the ranch and quiet country roads to walk on. It is centrally located with many state parks and attractions within an hour. Walk Watkins Glen, eat on the banks of Keuka Lake, Climb Stony Brook Park, view the gorge at Letchworth State Park. There are many local wineries and breweries in the area and of course on Keuka Lake. We are 40 minutes from Swain Ski Resort and closer to Tall Pines ATV Park. Coming into town to visit the Alfred colleges? We are right over the hill from them. There are amazing local events in the cities and towns such as the Wellsville and Dansville Balloon Rallies. The City of Hornell has large events for July 4th, the Maple City Festival and Hornell for the Holidays. Corning also hosts many events throughout the year. Or just stay at the house and enjoy a few days in the country. The wifi is great so feel free to work from here. There is something for everyone here.
