About this property

#303 Victorian Suite "A Preferred Partner of Rail Explorers"

This, the Victorian Suite, is one of our more luxurious suites in Historic Goeppinger Building. It is the perfect setting for honeymooners, anniversaries or just a special weekend retreat. The suite has a queen sized canopy bed made up with fine linens. Our first guest commented that the bed was the most comfortable bed she had ever slept on. The mattress is the kind that allows two people to sleep comfortably but when one sleeper moves during the night, the other isn’t supposed to feel the movement. Apparently it works!

A dressing room with a desk/make up table is next to a full bath with a sink, stool and a tub and shower combination. The shower has a waterfall head. Guests comment on our big white organic towels and mention that they are so fluffy.

The spacious kitchen has the original cabinets from 1935 and the early inlaid linoleum. It is fully equipped with a stove, refrigerator, dishes-cookware-utensils and a supply of coffee. There is a cute little table for two for romantic dinners.

Our building is old, circa 1915, and it is lovingly restored. However, if you prefer shiny and new, there are several motels in Boone with that type of accommodation.

Perfect location
We selected this suite primarily due to its location, and were very pleasantly surprised. The building is historic and no more than a 15-minute walk from almost everything we wanted to do, from all things related to the train museum to bars and restaurants and shopping. And it was no more than a 10-minute drive to all the things that were too far to walk. It’s a third-floor walk-up which didn’t seem like a big deal for us but might be for others, and had pretty much everything we needed. In addition, Dixie and Brock really went above and beyond to make our stay special.

About the host

Hosted by The Property Manager

Host profile image
A retired educator, I have always been surrounded by people and now I enjoy meeting new people . I love history and historic architecture. My family has a farm in South Dakota and I enjoy gardening, growing vegetables and have multiple flower gardens. My roots are in Norway and I take frequent trips to the “old country” to visit my daughter and her family and my extended family.

Why they chose this property

Although we are across the street from the Union Pacific Railroad, we have taken measures to reduce the sound of trains rumbling through town during the night. We have the windows covered with blinds and drapes which provide a dark room for sleep muffle the sound of the trains. The hum of the fan on the AC is also an effective tool for this purpose. In addition, we have white noise machines available on request.

The third floor is quite a climb, but once you get up there, you will find yourself in a suite that is fully restored to it's 1935 ambiance. It is both beautiful and comfortable, furnished with antiques and collectibles. A past guest said that the queen sized canopy bed in the suite is the most comfortable bed she have ever slept on in an Airbnb.

What makes this property unique

There are so many things to do right here in Boone: Rail Explorers is a preferred partner of ours and provides an exciting bike ride for the whole family. Mention that you are staying at the Historic Goeppinger Building when you check in for your rail ride and you will receive a complementary Travel Mug.

In addition, there are train rides, museums, parks, hiking trails, swimming, great restaurants, antique stores, women's clothing stores and thrift stores available. Located right outside Boone is Seven Oaks Recreation providing tubing and canoeing in the summer and skiing and snow boarding in the winter. Boone hosts the Super National Car Races, a great County Fair and Puffer-Billy Days (a celebration of the railroad with a carnival, train rides, craft fairs, music and tours).
