About this property
Bonnabel Haus w/ Stocktank Pool ft. on DIY Network
Welcome to the Bonnabel Haus — A Joyful Southern Escape
This 1-bedroom, 1-bath cottage is more than just a place to stay — it's a little piece of Louisiana history. Featured on Louisiana Flip N Move, the home was relocated by truck and barge across Lake Pontchartrain and now rests peacefully in Robert, LA.
The Bonnabel Haus is a joyful space that pays homage to simpler times, with handpicked features that enhance its charm. One favorite detail? The foyer light — lovingly restored after being salvaged from an old service station in Zachary, LA, by way of an estate sale in St. Francisville.
What You’ll Love: - Cozy and artfully curated interiors - High-speed internet & smart TV - Stock tank pool — perfect for cooling off in the Louisiana heat (drained Oct–April) - Large fenced backyard with room to play or relax - Off-street parking for peace of mind - Pet-friendly with prior approval
The Space

PETS WELCOME Dogs are allowed with prior approval and a $75 fee per pet. With room to roam and comfy sleeping spaces, even your furry friends will feel at home here. NOTE: - Since we’re a pet-friendly home, this means wagging tails and happy paws are welcome here! Our cleaning team does a fantastic job, but a stray fur or two may still sneak by. If allergies are a concern, we totally understand and recommend choosing a pet-free property for maximum comfort.

Refunds will not be issued for weather-related events, utility interruptions, or other circumstances beyond our influence. We recommend purchasing travel insurance for added peace of mind.
If it’s been raining, the backyard tends to stay a little wet so the fire pit may not be useable and your pups may get muddy if left unattended outside.

Cute little historical cottage. Everything you need for a home away from home in a rural area. Conveniently located near Covington. Great communication from the host.

So happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. You were a wonderful guest and I’d love to have you back anytime!
We loved our stay at the Haus it was very cozy and very enjoyable we sadly had a hornets nest outside so they kept on finding a way in but we took care of it they are all gone but besides that 10/10
Cute little house that perfectly fit what I needed
Cute comfortable little house. In town for work and stayed for a couple of weeks. Virginia was awseome to communicate with. The only two things I didnt realize is there are no local channels available on the tv and extremally limited space for "canned goods dry storage" if you are going to be staying semi long term and going to be shopping at the grocery and cooking in house

LA trip
house was clean and easy to access; listing was not clear about pet policy; there was a $50 pet fee with "up to 3 pets any size"; I was contacted by the host that it was a per pet fee and it was $60 which was not what the listing said at the time booking; she did honor the $50 fee but charged me a per fee which added an additional $100 (on top of the original $50 I had already paid); She altered her listing to be more clear in the future; I booked this last minute to visit a family member who had surgery so it was not refundable. I would have made different choices if her listing were more clear. I specifically chose her listing because of the dogs; for others who are traveling with dogs: The backyard holds water with rain and was not usable with the dogs secondary to mud; fence did have a board that was broken and dogs could have escaped if used; back screen door is in disrepair and no light was present in back yard making it difficult to take the dogs out at night on leash; disappointed with the host's inflexibility with her unclear pet fee/policy and house could use some maintenance outside

Sonia, I’m sorry to hear that you were so displeased with your stay. I do send an email immediately after bookings to confirm and clarify the pet fee and we communicated regarding the pet fee numerous times within the full refund cancellation window. You had an opportunity to cancel. The pet fee amount listed on vrbo was wrong and I honored the $50 fee but I do state on the listing that it is a per pet fee as well as in my instant response message to your booking. As for the fence, a storm damaged some parts of it but it’s functional and I temporarily repaired any areas that were of concern until the entire fence can be repaired by a professional. I think an ugly screendoor that functions might be better than nothing (maybe you feel differently) and there isn’t anything that can be done about the muddy back yard after a storm as it’s south louisiana.
I am a host who tries to welcome travelers and their pets as I know finding a place to stay can be extremely difficult with three dogs. The house is a constant work in progress and most people are able to appreciate it for its charm and the care I put into my guest’s overall experience rather than only focus on the small things that are not perfect.
Located in a very quiet neighborhood about 50 minutes from New Orleans. Really nice big backyard...but ask to make sure it is secure as gate was broken when we got there
Another great rental experience with Virginia! It was a lovely house in a peaceful, inviting area. Our little fur babies enjoyed the fenced in back yard.
This place was so amazing! We enjoyed 3 nights at this location and loved every second. We would go out to explore NOLA and come back to what felt like home. The interior of the house was beautiful to look at and the backyard was comfortable to sit in and enjoy the view of the sky. Even though there are neighbors around the home, it was separated enough to feel a little more private! The neighborhood itself was secluded and quiet. It was exactly what I wanted for me and my girlfriend for a spontaneous trip! Thank you to the host for checking in but giving us our privacy as well. We will definitely be back 😆
Hi there! I’m Virginia—a proud Louisiana native and property manager who splits time between the bayous of the South and the mountains of Idaho. What makes this property unique
This isn’t just another short-term rental—it’s a thoughtfully designed mini-retreat built in 2017 to blend comfort, charm, and convenience in one space. The home’s cozy footprint makes it incredibly efficient, yet it feels airy and welcoming thanks to smart use of light, space, and layout.
What truly sets it apart is the all-inclusive experience—utilities, high-speed internet, lawn care, and even linens are included, so you can simply arrive and settle in without extra hassle. The private fenced yard with a stocktank pool is a rare find in a compact rental, giving you your own outdoor oasis for morning coffee, afternoon swims, or letting pets roam freely.
Its location strikes the perfect balance—peacefully tucked away in a quiet Robert neighborhood, yet just minutes from Hammond, Covington, and I-12 for quick trips to New Orleans or Baton Rouge.
