About this property

Secluded Chester County historic farmhouse

Re-energize and reconnect in this quintessential Chester County farmhouse. The Buck Run Farmhouse was built in 1767 and is believed to have been part of the Underground Railroad. Beautifully situated on over 90 acres of forest and fields for hiking, bird watching, and exploring; the Buck Run Farmhouse is the perfect place to retreat to!!

Three story 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home with living room, sunroom, and library. Outdoor spaces include brick-paved dining areas, a SoloStove, a Breeo firepit, and two decks as well as a grill for guest use. For kids we offer some basic sports equipment such as a net, and a few assorted balls. There is also a splash pad based on the game Twister, a sprinkler, and a slip & slide. The perfect place for a group trip or family reunion!

Guests have access to the entire first and second floor of the house as well as two full-size bedrooms on the third floor with beautiful views overlooking the farm. Guests are asked not to enter the basement or attic spaces. We have mechanical equipment in these locations and they are not intended for guest access.

While guests are welcome to explore the property, it is important to note that parts of the land are actively farmed. We ask that guests are respectful of these areas and recognize that they do not have exclusive access to the outdoor spaces. The house is reserved for guests only.

The barn is off limits to guests without prior permission from Host. We are creating an animal sanctuary over time and welcome guests by appointment (or if you see us out there working feel free to inquire!) www.jpbbanimalsanctuary.com

We provide a starter supply of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, a sponge, and several trash bags. If you have any other special needs, by all means give us a call and we're happy to help in any way we can.

Please also know that cell service is very limited. We have great WiFi and calls can occasionally go through when outside the house but you may need to download a texting app to make calls via WiFi.

This house was built in the mid 1700's, it and the land are not easily accessible to persons with disabilities. There are many raised thresholds and narrow doorways as well as very little flat land in the outdoor spaces - all adding to the character of the well appointed home but not easy for wheelchair access or walkers.

Please be aware: there are Ring video doorbells on the front and and back doors as well as monitoring the barn and pond.

Beautiful and historic property
This house was a lovely spot for family memebers to stay over the Thanksgiving weekend. They all loved the house, amenities and the views! Also, can't beat walking to a great local market for treats and necessities!

Great place for a friends cycling reunion
The house and property are superb. Well appointed inside, with everything you need in the kitchen. Great spaces to relax and catch up. Very private, with gorgeous views outside. Megan is an efficient and capable host. As nice as you'll ever meet. We know the area, and the routes around Chester and Lancaster county are some of the finest anywhere so perfect for rides of any length. It is not rail trail riding though, so do some hill training if you don't get a chance on your normal routes. There's even a small market right up the street (8 min walk) in case you run out of something. There was some construction going on, making the place even more spectacular, and even the workmen were friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend highly enough.

Hands Down One of the Best!
Truly one of the best VRBOs I’ve ever stayed in. The house and grounds are immaculate. The owners hav done a brilliant job remodeling a historic home without losing the unique nature of the home itself. The patios and landscaping were truly an A+. Well stocked with everything I needed! Will def be back again!

This house is WOW.
We have an annual girls' trip and this is the first time we are seriously considering a return trip because the house is just so amazing. One of the best-appointed rentals we've been to with lots of cozy shared spaces, and happily situated on a little pond with koi. The host was quick to respond to questions and requests. A friend or family holiday here would be lovely! Fun things nearby include Kennett Square (great shopping and The Creamery beer garden), Longwood Gardens, and the Brandywine Museum. We also really loved The Whip Tavern for brunch. [Just a note that there are a lot of tall, narrow stairs so perhaps not the best location for folks with mobility challenges unless you ask the host to set up a twin bed in one of the common areas on the first floor.]

Hello!
My name is Megan and I am very proud to run the Historic Buck Run Farmhouse. When not working, I enjoy caring for and riding horses, hiking, and kayaking.

Why they chose this property

Built in 1767 the farmhouse is older than the United States of America. It is believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad. The house is incredibly unique with many of its original features found alongside beautiful modern amenities. Situated on 92 acres, you'll find peace and tranquillity in abundance here.
