About this property

Adorable Mesa Top Cabin (South Cabin)

Mesa Top Couples Retreat! The Powelldale Mountains are on the west side of Lake Whitney, just south of Kopperl Texas. These cozy cabins have a stunning 300-degree view of the lake and surrounding countryside. Cabins are located on a 44 AC ranch with 100 feet of elevation change to the cabins on the mesa! The north and south
cabins are listed separately. Feel free to book 1 or especially both. The listings have pictures that are unique to each cabin, and this is the south cabin.

THINGS TO KNOW

We are pet friendly!

There is plenty of parking for boats and even RVs. At this time, we don’t have RV hookups (but this is planned).

The north cabin has a Keurig, the south cab in a standard 12 cup coffee pot. Coffee is included, but you may want to buy more or bring what you like.

There is 100 feet of elevation change on the property and the road is fairly steep going to the top of the mesa. The road has chip seal, and you should not have any trouble getting up to the top. Medium duty trucks benefit from use of four-wheel drive to keep from spinning and tearing up the road.

It’s easy to get to Cleburne State Park or Meridian State Park, explore at the old bridge at Brazos point, take your boat upriver at Kimble Bend (especially if you ski). There are some pretty good restaurants at Walnut Springs, Meridian, and Clifton. Whitney has some nice places to go for breakfast. There’s actually places to dance in Walnut Springs and Whitney.

A Special Christmas
Before we arrived, we got all sorts of great info from Larry on places to visit, hike, eat. A great list of places! This is a great place to venture out and around the area. There are a lot of close places to entertain all things a family might want to do. Our dog loved it, especially when the coyote family below the cliffs started howling each night. We enjoyed the horses and deer that frequented the area. The view is extra special in all directions. I hope your stay will be as great as our Christmas!!! Thanks, Larry!!!

I am a retired aerospace engineer, formally at Lockheed Martin in Grand Prairie. I grew up in the DFW area and went to work at Lockheed after graduating from Texas Tech, and the University of Texas at Austin. While at college I learned to barefoot waterski. Soon after college I met friends that were "trying" to learn to barefoot down here on the Brazos River. I've been in love with this area ever since.

Why they chose this property

The property has its own mesa! The cabins have a massive 300-degree view. Lake Whitney, White Bluff, and the Steiner Ranch are to the east, Mesquite Creek, the Nolan and Brazos Rivers are to the North, and the W3 and other ranches are to the west.

What makes this property unique

Every sunrise and sunset are different. Deer come to the feeder in the morning and evening. Our horses also make appearances on top of the mesa. Different times of the year see different types of birds. Road runners and great blue heron are resident. Buzzards soar on the ridge lift coming from the mesa elevation. Geese migrate through and pelicans are resident most of the winter through late spring. We have also seen the occasional bald eagle and Mexican eagles are in the area.
