Beach Bird is located in the low-traffic, family-friendly North end of Sandbridge, 500' from the beach. We rent weekly from Saturday to Saturday during the peak summer months May to September. Check-in is 3 P.M. and check out is 10 A.M. We have a digital door lock, but we are almost always there since always seems a lot to do, making sure everything is working. We specialize on family and friend reunions and provide amenities for all ages including toddlers, with several cribs, a high chair, strollers. We also supply pool and beach toys. We have ping-pong in the rec room downstairs, and badminton and volleyball for the yard or pool, basketball for the driveway, and pickleball for the driveway or side yard. We have a 200 sq. ft. 2nd story deck in front and a 384 sq.ft 2nd story deck on the south side., with a 200 sq. ft. 3rd story deck for 2026. We have a 240 sq. ft. covered patio area in back, 200 sq. ft. of lounging deck with 8 chaise lounges in the rear with the 16' X 32' sports pool, which can be solar-heated. For 2026, we will have the 3 story, 630 sq. ft. addition with three more bedrooms and another bath on first floor convenient to pool area..This will bring the total to 8 BR and 5 baths, and provide accommodations for 18+ in bedrooms so we can accommodate even larger families and friends group. The other factor to consider in the number of guests is the seating for dining, For this year we found a great new dining room set; the new table seats 12, and the bar stools add six more. We also upgraded the couch to a larger U shaped configuration. The first floor pool room will have a double futon and a half bath. Next year we will try a queen futon with double upper and finish the shower. The third floor of the addition will have to go back to the drawing board, the heat infiltration during the end of June heat wave was frankly shocking to me. Even with 2x6 construction, R-19 insulation, and two 6000 btu ac's, we could not keep up. We will have to research stronger insulation, reflective coatings, and my choice of Roof level decks on three sides. After the nightmare I experienced with this addition I decided never again, but the shade from the decks could make all the difference. The shaded first floor NE queen bedroom never had the ac come on in even in the middle of the heat wave. The second floor of the main house has a king master bedroom, great room with kitchen, dining room, and living room, and the previously mentioned queen bedroom with full size crib. The first floor has king and queen bedrooms sharing a bath, a fifth bedroom with a double lower, twin upper bunk and with it's own full bath. the sixth bedroom has a queen bed. Next year we will up size this to a queen lower and double upper. The fifth bedroom will also have another queen lower, double upper bed. The rec room has a double futon and queen sofa bed for use with extra guests. The kitchen is fully equipped and many guests have told us it is the best equipped kitchen they have experienced. For example we have two coffee makers, one regular and one Keurig. Many of our appliances and amenities have come from guest questions or suggestions, so if you arrive and don't find a specific item, let me know and I can and have supplied it the same or next day. The latest great suggestion came from our first week guests this year: the kitchen overhead light was pale and flickering, and they had converted their home to LED. Armed with this I went to Home Depot and lo and behold, they had direct replacement plug-in LED 4 foot bulbs. No more flickering fluorescents! We completely replaced the electrical panel, a big boost for safety. The pool connection got lost in the process so the past weeks have been crazy busy installing a new super-quiet pool pump and getting the pool ready. Getting back the the outside, the path to the beach is right across from my driveway. You pass two houses to get to the beach road, then two houses right to the life-guarded beach, which I recommend in unsettled weather, or two houses left to a more private area of the beach, virtually empty during the week. Looking North you can see downtown Virginia Beach, about 5 miles, and to the South is 20 miles of beach all the way to the Outer Banks..The entire front yard is gravel so we have ample off-street parking, one of the few houses in SB. In walking distance is SB Market with an excellent deli and amazingly extensive stock and Sandbridge Seaside Restaurant which consistently makes the top ten lists for Best of the Beach. Across the street is a Ben and Jerry's, and zero's Subs. Five miles south in SB is the SB fishing pier and tennis courts, with Baja Restaurant and jet ski rentals. A mile further is Back Bay Wildlife Refuge with miles of walking trails and guided tram tours several days a week. Spectacular bird life, especially in the Fall with large flocks of Snowy Geese and shorebirds over-wintering.. A half mile back on SB Road is SB Rentals which you passed on the way in, with surfboard, kayak, bike, and just about every household item for rent, as well as surfing lessons and guided kayak eco-tours.( If you need to rent any household items, call me first. I either already have it or will get it). Also on the way in on the left is Hell's Point Golf Club, one of the many public golf courses available in VB.
