This East End beachfront vacation home is light and bright with a spacious living/dining/kitchen area and amazing views from all floors are spectacular, especially enjoying sunrises and sunsets from the accessible and recently-updated widow's walk! Revel in the scenic backdrop and the warm Florida air brushing against your face from on top of the house. Whether relaxing on the deck with a good book, splashing in the surf and picking up seashells, or exploring the Island on paddleboard or bicycle, the best of the Forgotten Coast is within easy reach at Carousel House!

You will be greeted by the East End's relaxing vibe as you arrive at this vacation rental home. The exterior of this property offers direct access to the beach via the shared boardwalk, a fish cleaning station, an outdoor shower, private covered parking, and unencumbered Gulf views. The living and dining areas and the kitchen are located on the second floor and offer an open concept with plentiful seating on the cheerful sofa (queen sleeper) and loveseat. There is a second sofa that provides an additional queen sleeper. The living area is light and bright with a wall of windows and direct views of the Gulf. A sliding door leads you to the large covered deck with panoramic views of the sparkling Gulf. The deck offers plenty of lounge seating and an outdoor dining table. The indoor dining table comfortably seats everyone, and there are more seats at the breakfast bar that look into the well-equipped, open-concept kitchen. The kitchen has all the tools a cook needs, plenty of counter space, a pantry, and views of the Gulf through the wall of windows in the living and dining room. For guest convenience, there is a half bath on this floor. Beach gear credit is included with this home - book a stay and get your choice of kayaks, paddle boards, beach chairs, and more!

With so much to love, you may not want to leave. Thankfully, from December until March of every year, extended stays are welcome and encouraged!

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Great location but needs some updates
Overall the Carousel house was a very good experience being close to the beach and very easily accessible. There is plenty of storage and was great having a washer/dryer to use. We enjoyed the privacy of the beach and the large decks. It would be nice to have a few chairs on the second deck from the bedrooms but not a big deal. When it comes to the house itself, it is definitely dated and needs some TLC. What needs to be addressed immediately is the plumbing. The faucets in the bathrooms dripped steadily when the water was turned off all the way. When the bathtub faucets were turned on for showers, it was very loud throughout the house. It was challenging to get all the water to come out of the shower head when transitioning from the faucet. Also the toilets need new seats as the ones there are scratched and stained badly. The kitchen also needs an update and maintenance as well especially with the silverware drawer getting stuck each time we tried opening it. Also, know that this house is very close to the house next-door, which does have an outdoor pool. We had a big group occupying that home when we were at the Carousel and could hear everything going on at that house when the tenants were outside and in the pool. Overall we had a good stay and absolutely loved being so close to the beach!

Beautiful Deck!
This home has two amazing covered decks with great views of the ocean! Unbeatable direct access to the beach using private board walk. Well equipped kitchen, TVs in every room, and lots of space make this a great rental for a family!

Carousel House At The Island
Love this house location, right on the beach. We enjoyed the view of the ocean waves, the sunsets, and the surroundings. It reminded me of Cape Cod, Mass. This is a place for relaxation, as there is not a lot to do in the island. If you enjoy fishing this is a great place for you.

Pros: 1. The house had everything we needed to cook 2. The washer & dryer was a nice size 3. The outside shower was great to wash off after being at the beach 4. The outside sink was great to clean fish in after fishing 5. It was close to the beach & had a great view even though it was set a little ways back 6. The deck was nice to sit on & enjoy the view & had 2 lounge chairs to use 7. We had plenty of towels & pillows 8. It had reusable shopping bags available for use 9. You get a $250 credit to use on rental equipment which is nice if you plan on renting equipment, but be aware that you have to spend $300 in order to get the $25 delivery fee waived. Cons: 1. The kitchen & living area is on the 3rd floor which allows you to see the great view, but it was difficult to carry things all the way up to the kitchen & back. We did ok with it, but if stairs are a problem for you, it would be a problem 2. The house is VERY close to the house next door. Luckily for us no one was in the other house for most of our stay & when people did arrive to stay in the other house, they were quiet. If people were in the other house the entire time we were there& had been loud, it would have created a very bad experience for us 3. For such a nice house & great location, the house decor & showers are dated & could use updating 4. Last, but NOT least: The first morning & one other morning we woke up to mouse poop on the counters. It was a good thing there were Clorox wipes under the sink, because my wife had to sanitize the counters every morning. There was also quite a bit of mouse poop in the drawer with the spatulas & cooking utensils, so she had to wash the utensils each time before using them. We contacted the management company & received no response the entire week. This is not acceptable for the price we paid to rent this house. We should at least get our cleaning fee refunded since she had to clean everyday. The mouse poop in the drawer indicates that the mouse problem has been going on for a while & has not been taken care of. It's actually a shame because the rest of the house was very clean.

Great house in a great location!
Out of the 4 places I have stayed on St. George Island, this is probably my least favorite. It was a good house in a good location, but it was set back from the beach pretty far and the driveway was both shared and difficult to navigate with potholes. The neighbors were loud and may have caught their house in fire at one point. If you get great neighbors, it would be a great place. It`s just so close to the next house that who is there really matters.As far as the house goes, everything was pretty well functional, if dated. The widow`s walk was cool but the railing is a mere suggestion.I don`t want this review to sound overly negative or critical, because really everything was fine. It wasn`t exceptional but it was fine. I know that I paid a higher rate because of the crazy high demand right now, so it was adequate for the money. The privacy at that part of the beach really can`t be beat - it`s pretty much right in the middle of the two main public beach areas on the island, so you really do have a nice stretch of beach to yourself. The island was PACKED with people and it never felt crowded.I also love the mural in the downstairs bathroom. For a windowless bathroom it sure was nice and bright!My kids really liked the twin bed headboards because they were shelves where they could keep all their stuff. My dog loved laying in the sun on the deck in the morning while we drank our coffee and watched dolphins.If the price went down 40% I would not hesitate to rent this place again. But I know that demand is high right now and so are prices. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.
